Chapter 7: Their Marriage

NANG makarating si Veronica sa bahay niya, madilim at tahimik ang paligid. It was alredy 4 in the afternoon at hindi na niya inaasahang uuwi pa ang asawa niya.

Ano pa bang aasahan niya? Terrence hated her to death at kadalasan talaga hindi ito umuuwi sa bahay nila.

Thinking of it makes her eyes watered, ayaw man niyang aminin but deep inside alam niyang kay Monica ito umuuwi minsan.

She walked upstairs and stopped mid way. Tumingin siya sa malaking wedding picture nilang mag asawa na naka dikit sa pader. Kung gaano kasaya ang nararamdaman ni Veronica sa araw na yun, kabaliktaran naman ang nararamdaman ni Terrence.

In their wedding picture, Veronica's eyes sparkled with happiness. As for Terrence, he was looking at the camera coldly. Anger, hatred, and disgust were seen in his eyes.

For one and a half year of being married, hindi pa tumabi si Terrence sa kanya.

They were married, they lived under the same roof but they have separate rooms. Terrence never sleeps with her not even once. Sumipot nga ito sa kasal nila pero umalis din after the reception. Their 1-week honeymoon to Europe was canceled because Terrence didn't show up for 3 days.

Veronica is known as a heartless bitch, she is wealthy and she can have everything she wants except for him.

Sa mata ng ibang tao, she is very fortunate to live in luxury but little did they know she is not happy.

Pumunta siya sa kwarto niya at agad humiga, she looked up in the ceiling and observe the whole room. Her room is huge but it felt so empty. There were 10 of Veronica's beautiful and colorful paintings that she made, hang on the wall na dapat nagbibigay sigla sa kwarto but it never did.

She closes her eyes and remembers how they pressured Terrence to marry her.

One and a half years ago

That day she was sitting calmly in the couch, katabi niya ang kanyang lola. Kaharap nilang naka upo ang mga magulang ni Terrence.

"We should have a toast for the upcoming wedding." Terrence's Father looked at Veronica and Victorina with a smile.

"We should." Her lola agreed. Veronica was smiling from ear to ear, makikita sa kanyang mga mata ang kaligayahan.

"I will contact the best wedding coordinator in town." Terrence's mother excitedly took her phone and dialed someone.

"Who's wedding?" Takang tanong ni Terrence na kararating lang.

"Terrence hijo, come here. Say hi to your future grandmother-in-law and your future wife Veronica."

Veronica proudly stood up while smiling brightly

Terrence chuckled sarcastically while looking at them as if they were crazy.
"I am not getting married and if I do, it would be Monica and not her."

"Terrence!"

Veronica's smile froze as she looked at Terrence walking away.

On that the same year, may nakawan na nagaganap sa kompanya nila Terrence.

They said it was an inside job, because of that muntik ng bumagsak ang kompanya nila. Terrence's father got sick, leaving him no choice but to marry Veronica in order to prevent their company's bankruptcy and the rest is history.

Napukaw lang ang attention ni Veronica nang may kumatok sa kwarto niya.

When she opened the door, Terrence stood coldly outside her door. "Get yourself ready, aalis tayo."

Veronica raised her eyebrow and looked at Terrence. "Oh hello, too dear husband. Saan mo ko dadalhin?"

"Just shut up and dress up, will you?"

Veronica chuckled slightly. " I never knew, I was naked in your eyes Terrence."

Terrence fisted his hands and pushed her on the wall na ikinadaing ng isa. "Don't test my patience Veronica!"

Veronica forcefully pushed him away and looked at him. "Tinatakot mo ba ako? Umalis kang mag isa!"

Terrence combed his hair with force and looked away. "Please, sumunod ka na lang. Dress something nice, I'll give you 15 minutes."

Veronica gaped her mouth and looked at his broad shoulders. This surprised her, he actually said please. She chuckled slightly and went back to her room to change.

NANG lumabas siya, she saw Terrence patiently waiting in the living room. When he saw her, he immediately walked outside and opened the car door for her, making her freeze.

What the hell? Did she do something great?

"This.. May lagnat ka ba?"

Terrence looked at her with a ceased brows na agad ding nawala nang makita ang sarili niyang pinagbuksan si Veronica ng pinto. Sino ba naman ang hindi magugulat? This is something he never do.

"Are you getting in or not?" Masungit na tanong ni Terrence.

Veronica just rolled her eyes at padabog na sumakay sa kotse. Now it made her wonder what he was up to. She is very sure na may mabigat na dahilan kung bakit ganito umasta ang asawa niya.

"Seatbelt."

Napatingin siya sa lalaki nang marinig niya tong magsalita pero hindi niya gaanong maintindihan. "What?"

Terrence did not answer but instead he came closer that made her stop breathing for a bit dahil isang dangkal lang ang layo nilang dalawa para mahalikan niya ang asawa.

Nabalik lang siya sa sarili when she heard a clicking sound from the seatbelt. She immediately looked away, afraid that he could hear her heart beating so fast like a drum roll.

Veronica looked outside the window as the establishments pass by, before her eyes so fast. "What are you thinking?" Di niya napigilang magtanong nang hindi tumitingin sa kanya.

"Do you have to know?" He answered.

Napatawa lang ng pagak si Veronica at di na nagsalita. She was hoping that maybe... maybe this could be a start.

Both became silent and time flies so fast until they reached their destination. Napakunot ang noo ni Veronica nang mapansin niyang huminto sila sa harap ng simbahan.

Lumabas sila sa kotse at agad napatingala si Veronica sa malaking simbahan. "What are we doing here?"

Terrence just looked at her mockingly. "What? Masusunog ka ba pag pumasok ka sa loob?"

Veronica laugh a little and glared at him. "Yeah. You're right, kaya aalis na ako."

"Veronica."

Tatalikod na sana si Veronica when Terrence held her arm. "Please, just this once. I need you."

Veronica stared at his hand in her arm. She was questioning herself kung ano ang kailangan ng asawa sa kanya, to be this desperate. He was acting so weird na para bang nakalimutan niyag may matindi itong galit sa kanya.

Natauhan lang siya nang bumitaw si Terrence sa kanya at nauna ng maglakad sa loob ng simbahan na agad niya namang sinundan.

Kunti lang ang mga tao sa loob pero ang karamihan pa dito ay mga bata.

Nang makarating sila, malapit ng matapos ang mesa. And when it ended agad na nilapitan ni father si Terrence at nakipag kamay. "Akala ko hindi ka na makakarating. Ito ba ang asawa mo hijo."

"Opo." Terrence casually answered na ikinatingin ni Veronica.

She was beyond surprised by his actions. Para siyang na estatwa sa kinatatayuan at wala siyang magawa kundi ang ngumiti sa kaharap.

She could not complain, why would she? This is what she had been always dreaming of. Yung kilalanin siya ng asawa niya.

Hindi niya alam kung anong nangyari at kung ano pa ang mangyayari but she would take this chance para mapalapit pa sa asawa.
