"Hey, Lios, come on. Wake up." You woke up to Steve's voice as he shook you lightly. You opened your eyes and saw him wearing a suit but as you got up, you noticed that he was in his pyjamas from his waist down. He blushed when you chuckled, "I have a conference. I made eggs and toast, here." He said as he put a tray in front of you. "Do you need anything else?"
You sighed and shook your head, "No, thanks." you said as Steve went to the living room for his conference. You had just gotten here last night and having been exhausted, both of you had decided to just have dinner and watch a movie before going to bed though you had fallen asleep somewhere in the middle of the movie.
After having your breakfast, you took a quick shower and went over to the kitchen to make some coffee. Steve was still in his conference on the other side of the room so you tried not to make any noise. You poured the coffee into two mugs and put Steve's next to his laptop on the table he was sitting at. Steve smiled at you before getting back to his conference. You picked a book from the bookshelf and sat on the couch.
Though you tried to distract yourself with the book, it didn't help much. You just couldn't shake off the memory from yesterday. You couldn't stop thinking about the voice that had seemed as if it could command your powers. The way that presence had made you feel, it was like having gotten a massage and you could still feel its remnant touch on your body. Though you had been nervous, you just couldn't forget how much lighter and comfortable you had felt. You'd told Steve that it was a nightmare and a part of you wanted to believe that too but if you were, to be honest, you just didn't know.
"Anything good?" Steve spoke suddenly as he shut his laptop and got up. You shook your head and put the book down as he stretched his back and walked over to you. He sat next to you, putting his around you on the couch. "You want to finish that movie? You kind of fell asleep in the middle last night." He said as he grabbed the remote.
"I was thinking of going to the beach," You said. "The weather seems nice."
"It's too hot," He said and he had already put on the movie. "There too many people out anyway, I'd rather not be found out. People are dying to get shirtless pictures of celebrities on the beach, you know?"
You sighed and sat back. Tony's villa was on a private beach and though there weren't many people allowed there, it still wasn't as far from the public beach. Someone could still technically click your pictures if they had a good enough camera.
"What do you want to have for lunch?" Steve asked. You said you'll have anything and Steve said he'll order from a nearby restaurant that he liked. You sat with him until the movie got over and then grabbed your book to go sit outside at the patio. It really was hot but it was pretty windy which made the heat bearable. You took off your shirt and sat on one of the wicker loungers. You only got so much time before Steve came out as well. He pulled the other chair and sat right next to you.
"Hey," He said.
"What's up?"
"About yesterday," He uttered nervously, still not sure if he was supposed to ask about it. "Does it happen often?"
You looked into your book, half hoping he'd get a hint and go away and half wondering where this conversation would go and what you should say. You felt bad for treating him like that. Nobody deserved it and if you thought of it, he'd had his fair share of a shitty life too. Technically, he was forced into the whole media thing just as much as you. "Not really," You gave in finally. "It happens sometimes if I'm stressed or something but honestly, I just don't know what happened yesterday."
"It... It wasn't me, was it? The stress?" He asked carefully.
You smiled and shrugged, "Maybe but not really. I'm just not sure."
