When you woke up the next day, you noticed that Steve's side of the bed was empty and cold which meant he'd been up for some time now. You sighed as you sat up, his words from last night coming back to you in whorls of frenzy and you half-wished that he had left for the Tower early and you could stay here for the rest of the day. You still needed to process your time with Aleksander and as you'd laid in your bed last night still thinking over everything, you'd figured that you needed to take things one at a time and first and foremost, you'd have to talk to Aleksander.

Alas, things don't always run the way one wants them to. Just as you'd gotten downstairs, you heard Steve and Phil's voice. Even though they were both calm and to anyone else, their tones would've been friendly and casual but you knew both of them better than that. While Steve was still faking his media voice to talk to Phil, you could tell that Phil was pissed and was trying to dismiss him.

"Lios didn't tell me anything about it," Phil said.

"Well, he's been afraid. Even when we were just dating, he was afraid to tell you thinking what you'd think of him." You heard Steve reply and you knew that very moment that he'd messed up everything.

"Nuh-uh, that couldn't have been it. Lios and I-"

All of a sudden, the conversation came to a halt when Steve's phone went off. He didn't pick up and turned it off but sighed as he stood up, "I'll have to go now. I'll go wake up Lios." Steve said as he walked out and it was too late for you to go back up. He stopped when he saw you and though surprised at first, he smiled. "I'll be upstairs, we have to leave soon."

"We?" You asked but Steve only showed you his phone's screen in response. You saw three missed calls from Mark and nodded, though not without an eye roll. Steve went back to your room and you hadn't even sat down in the kitchen when Phil saw you sighed.

"Right, everything I said about that guy last night? I take it back. I don't like him." Phil said. "Seriously, knowing you, I have no idea how you've gone without punching him in the face for this long times now."

You chuckled, a little sad at how accurate Phil was yet you couldn't tell him how many times you'd slapped Steve. "Give him a break, dad. He's not like that usually, he's just nervous around you. Brings out his TV voice."

Phil sighed and shook his head as he took a chair next to you, "And what's this about a wedding? Have you lost your mind?" He asked, keeping his voice down but you could see how stressed he was already. "And why on Earth am I hearing it from Steve instead of you?"

You quietly grabbed the bowl from the table and poured some milk and cereal into it. "I kind of knew you'd freak out," you said, hitting your lip as you chose your words knowingly with a single motive to stop the conversation altogether.

"So you chose to just not tell me at all? What, were you going to tell me on the day of the wedding or was I even going to be invited?"

"I was going to tell you!"

Phil took a deep breath and exhaled heavily, getting up and handing you your favorite cereal topping from the shelf. "It's not like I don't want this for you, Lios. But it's too soon and even with the whole media thing, I just don't like where this is headed."

You ate a couple of spoonfuls in silence before speaking up, "Are you mad?"

"Mad? No, Lios. But I sure am dissapointed." He said, making you look up at him. "Look, I get it. You're an adult, you've got a job and everything. You can make your own decisions and do what you want, I won't stop you from it. But I do want you to know that I don't approve of this." He said. "The engagement was crazy enough on its own own, what did you think I was going to say about a wedding?"

"Well, can't you be happy for your own son for once?" You asked, pushing aside the bowl as you stood up. All you wanted right now was to run away and rather die in the street than have to face Phil and look at the dissapointment on it.

Phil said nothing for a while, leaning on the counter with his arms crossed. "You don't know what you're talking about. You don't know what you're doing. What has happened to you, Lios? Are you even happy there?"

And that was the moment when you knew things had gone too far. Steve's warning rang in your ears and the last thing you wanted right now was for Phil to lose his job for your sake. "Is that what this is about?" You snapped, your gut clenching just thinking about the words your mind was spewing in a frenzy. "You up and decide suddenly that you don't want to take care of me, drop me off in middle of strangers and then say I don't know what I'm doing when I've finally found something good?" You spoke, your eyes fixed on the window behind Phil's head as you tried to keep your voice steady. "All my life you've told me how big of a loser I am and I should get out. Now that I finally go out and find happiness you're standing here questioning it? Just say you don't want me happy then."

Phil didn't say anything. He looked at you for a few seconds with his brows raised and eyes wide before straightening up and looking away. He grabbed your bowl from the table and began to clean around, "Will you stay for lunch or are you leaving with Steve?" He asked, his voice frail yet without emotion.

You opened your mouth to reply but felt that you truly couldn't even if you tried. You simply turned around and went upstairs to see that Steve was already ready. "Let's go," you said, grabbing your bad and putting the things you needed in it before putting on your shoes. From Steve's face, you guessed he must've heard either parts of your conversation or the whole of it. Neither of you said anything as you two left with a plain goodbye.

"Lios, you shouldn't have-" Steve started as he pulled the car out of the driveway but you stopped him mid-setence.

"Did you leave me a fucking option?" You said, looking at him. "No, you did not and I swear to God I'll lose it if you act like you did." With that, there was nothing but the sound of traffic on the street and the dim whirring of the car engine to accompany you for the rest of the ride.
