Adrian Walters closed the door to his office, running a hand through his hair as he looked over new potential clientele that gave him calls. He sat at his desk, looking at the information of the cases given to him. From the corner of his office in front of him, he saw a light slowly come to life. Two green angular lenses, with a large green glowing spider on the front. It was Spider-Man, who slipped in through the window an hour ago and was simply waiting.
"AH! Don't hurt me! I promise I didn't do anything wrong!" Adrian yelled as he threw his hands up to cover his face. Spider-Man hopped from the corner, perching onto the man's desk crouched down. Spider-Man wordlessly placed a small digital recorder onto the desk and pressed the head of the spider icon, activating his voice changer. He pushed the record button, then held down the pause button, the timer ticking up without recording Spider-Man's voice.
"Will you answer my questions honestly, and not tell me lies to save your own hide?" Spider-Man asked with the mechanically deepened voice. He released the pause button as the audio started being recorded.
"Depends on what the questions are," Adrian said. Spider-Man held the pause button again, tossing the files about the businesses that were robbed onto the desk. At least the ones that correlated with this specific firm.
"These are businesses that I've stopped criminals from breaking into over the past few weeks. All of them just so happen to be cash only businesses. Laundromats, hole in the wall supermarkets. A nightclub or two. All of which being filed under your firm's name. Can you confirm that these businesses are under your firm?" Spider-Man asked. He released the button, letting Adrian record his answer.
"Yeah. Yeah I remember these businesses. They were set up through anonymous beneficiaries. The information that they legally needed all came through the mail. Why?" Adrian asked, as Spider-Man held the pause button again.
"Do you know where the information thay certified these beneficiaries came from? Or do you know where the funds to purchase the buildings came from?" Spider-Man interrogated. He releases the button, letting Adrian mull over the questions.
"I don't exactly know where the information papers came from. Is there a reason I should know where the money came from?" Adrian asked, worried for what he's done. The click as the recording is paused again is heard.
"The businesses are fronts. Shell companies that were made with the purpose of laundering their ill gotten funds through the financial system so they can pull it out of different bank accounts and say that the income is legitimately earned," Spider-Man explained. He releases the button again, indicating that Adrian could talk now.
"Money laundering?! That's awful! Is there anything I can do to stop these men?" Adrian asked in shock. Pausing of the recording occured again.
"If you can help me find where the money is coming from and who the money is being handled with, that can help me narrow in on the crime families of Gotham," Spider-Man instructed. He releases the pause button.
"I could head to the banks tomorrow. Try and find the bank tellers who helped officiate and notarize the business papers. Once I do, I'll send the information to you," Adrian said. One more holding of the pause button as Spider-Man gave Adrian his final instructions.
"Once you get any sort of information that could help me, send it over to the GCPD Precinct. When whoever comes to pick up it, tell them to give it to detective Peter Parker to aid in the Spider-Man case file. From there, Peter Parker will relay the information to me and I can proceed from there," Spider-Man commanded, Adrian nodding in obedience as Spider-Man let go of the button for the last time.
"Of course. I'll gather whatever I can. I promise I'll help you in anyway I can. Thank you for bringing this to my attention," Adrian said as Spider-Man hit the stop button, stopping the recording and pocketing the recorder.
