After waiting for around 45 minutes, a familiar white Nissan Altima arrived in the parking lot. A 29-year-old woman stepped out of the car and locked it before jogging towards the café table where you both were sitting."Oh my god, Mr. Felix! It's so nice to meet you!! (Y/n) is your biggest fan! She always talks about your books and how amazing you are, and how you're so-" she exclaimed.
In a moment of panic, you quickly stood up, removed one of your black slip-on Vans shoes, and threw it at her head. She yelped in surprise and dodged the shoe quickly. Your face flushed with embarrassment, and you glared at her in warning. There was no way you would let her finish that sentence. Felix stared in confusion at the scene before him, before letting out a soft chuckle. You slumped back into your seat, then banged your forehead against the table with a groan of embarrassment.
Felix's POV:
I flinched slightly in my seat, my eyes widening and feeling startled by (Y/n)'s actions. I rubbed her back comfortingly and chuckled, "That looked like it hurt."
I heard her grumble in response. I playfully shook my head with a smile, stood up, and went to fetch the shoe that she had thrown at her friend. Once I reached it, I picked it up and carried it over to her. She slowly sat up, thanked me, and took her shoe back. I curiously observed her face as she put it back on with a sigh.
Y/n's POV:
I glanced upward and saw Kate staring at me with a puzzled expression. I tilted my head and furrowed my brow in non-verbal reply, wondering what was going on.
"Where's your engagement ring?" Kate asked impatiently, tapping her foot.
"It's at home," I replied. "I don't wear it because it might draw attention to Felix and me, and might make people ask questions."
"But I want to see it!" Kate whined and crossed her arms. Felix chuckled and I blushed. "She forgot it at home," he said, grinning mischievously. "It's not my fault you're a huge distraction," I countered, pretending to pout and cross my arms. Felix continued to play along. "Oh, what kind of distraction am I, darling?" he questioned in a teasing and flirtatious manner. My blush deepened as I began to think about certain unspeakable things. "Do you have a picture of it?" Kate asked hopefully, her curiosity overwhelming her. "No, sorry," I answered shyly, grateful for the distraction.
***
About thirty more minutes passed before the two of us confessed that we were not a real couple. Meanwhile, I was internally sobbing the whole time wishing we were. Kate was not too happy that she did not get to help me make wedding arrangements, but she did go out of her way to tease me and embarrass me in front of Felix- as best friends do. Luckily, Felix was not judgmental and remained calm and collected. Thankfully, Kate left us be after what seemed like an eternity. Once she had gone, Felix turned to me with a gaze of curiosity. "How about we get to know each other better?" I gave a soft smile, rested my chin in my palm, and nodded. "Alright."
"How old are you?" He remained sitting up straight, but folded his arms over his chest in a relaxed and casual manner.
"I'm 25. I'm turning 26 in a few weeks," I responded promptly, secretly studying his face as I did so. His face was so easy on the eyes. His soft brown eyes widened, and he smiled. "Really now? When's your birthday?" I smiled at him and replied softly. "Oh, it's (Y/B)."
(A/N: Y/B means "Your birthday")
He paused for a moment and rubbed his chin thoughtfully, then smiled again. "I'll certainly keep that in mind. And you probably know my birthday already, since it's mentioned in the 'About the Author' section of my books, and you've read my series multiple times."
"Yep, you're 32 years old currently, right?" I gave him a playful look, knowing that I had done the math correctly. He simply nodded. "To be honest, Mr. Felix, you look incredibly young for your age. Like, early twenties young." He grinned and leaned forward slightly. "Do you think so?"
I nodded and bit my lip, glancing away from him sheepishly. He chuckled and let me ask a few questions. We continued to chat like this, asking each other simple questions. In addition to our birthdays, we talked about our hobbies, favorite music genres, food preferences, and so on. It was really interesting to learn some new things about Felix, and I could tell that he was genuinely interested in what I had to say too. It made me feel...important.
