Y/N's POV:I slouched against the couch; feeling satisfied with the delicious meal. Felix's cooking was absolutely GODLY. Perhaps he could teach me how to make a few different meals sometime. It was certainly better than always fixing box meals like Mac and Cheese or getting fast food nearly every night. I never really learned how to cook as a kid. Back then, I mostly read books while lounging on my comfortable bed, rather than learn to cook with my mother. She always insisted I learn while I was still young, but I would decline the offer every time. Now I kind of wish I would have learned how to cook large meals back then.
What did I gain from constantly reading as a child, you may ask? Quite the extensive and exemplary vocabulary, if I don't say so myself. Something many people neglect nowadays. It's sad, really.
I snapped out of my thoughts as Felix picked up my dishes, as well as Topsy and Sheba's dishes.
I swiftly sat up. "Felix, you don't have to. Let me take care of the dishes. You've already done so much."
I stood up, taking the dishes from him."Are you sure? I really don't mind-" He trailed off, meeting my eyes.
"I'm sure. You've already made us a beautifully prepared and delicious meal, and have showed me delightful hospitality. It's the least I could do."
Felix relaxed and feeling happy to hear that news. Topsy stood up as well and offered to help me. I let her, and together we made our way into the kitchen. I set the dishes in the sink, and began rinsing the dishes. Topsy opened the dishwasher, and took each rinsed dish one by one, then set it into the dishwasher.
"So, what do you think of my big brother, hm?"
Topsy pried curiously.A smile made its way to my lips as I thought about Felix. "I think he's very kind and charming."
"Annnnndd?~...", she pressed on; continuing to fish for more juicy details from me. However, I kept my responses short and tame. "He's also very handsome and gifted."
Topsy chuckled, having already figured me out without me even having to admit the truth. "You like him. I can tell."
"I have no idea what you are talking about," I replied with a smile as I washed my hands and dried them off with a clean dish rag.
"Oh, don't play coy with me! There's no need for you to hide it," she giggled while also washing and drying her hands.
"Maybe not hide it from you- but certainly hide it from him. Though I'm afraid I'm a bit of an open book. I practically wear my heart on my sleeve. However, I've only known the real Felix for one day. I can't exactly jump the gun, you know?"
"Well, that's true. But I've known him my whole life, and I can tell you that you'll never find another man as wonderful as my big brother," she told me as she flashed me a toothy grin. She clearly looked up to Felix.
I smiled softly at Topsy, admiring her healthy relationship with her sibling. What I wouldn't give to be able to have that with my older brother. "I'll take your word for it."
Together, we reentered the living room, and Felix and Sheba both turned to look at us. Felix then stood up, and made his way toward me. "Are you ready, (Y/n)?", he asked softly. I gave a simple nod, and Felix lead me to his office. Topsy sat down next to Sheba; both were confused as they watched the two of us leave.
Once in his office, Felix sat down in his cushioned desk chair, and gestured for me to have a seat in the chair on the opposite side of the desk. I settled myself into the seat, and watched as he opened up his laptop, and began typing for a bit. Anxiety clawed at my heart as time seemed to slow down. 'What would happen to my brother if he got sent to rehab? What if he injured someone who worked there??'; these thoughts plagued my mind each passing second.
"What's his name, age, number, and address?", Felix asked suddenly as he glanced up from his laptop screen.
"H-His name is Daniel (L/N), a-and he is 29 years old.", I replied shakily as I rested my hands on the desk. I then provided his current address and phone number, and listened as Felix wrote it all down on a post-it note. He picked up the desk phone, and dialed the number on his laptop's screen. I held my breath as it rang; waiting to hear a voice on the other end. Felix noticed my unease, and tenderly took my hand into his. "We are in this together, ok? Don't worry", his voice was gentle and soothing as he spoke to me, which helped calm me a little.
The sound of a woman's voice replaced the ringing, snagging both mine and Felix's attention.
"This is the Solutions Rehabilitation Center. How may I assist you?""Yes ma'am, my name is Felix. I'm here with my friend, (Y/n). Her elder brother has been causing some...scares and disruptions. I do not know very much about the situation myself, but he has sent her some threatening texts today, and it has come to my attention that he threatens (Y/n) and her mother for money so that he may use it to buy alcohol and drugs. I have been told this happens often. We were just wondering if it would be best to file a restraining order against him with police, or try to convince him to willingly go to rehab."
The woman on the end of the line paused, letting the new information sink in, before replying, "I would suggest the first option. Because it seems to me this man does not want to, nor will ever willingly enter our establishment."
Felix rubbed his chin, and nodded, "Thank you for your opinion. We'll have to see what happens. Have a good night." The woman bid him the same, then hung up.
