Chapter 6: A Heart of Gold

"This is (Y/n), a reader of my adventure series. I met her at the café. Quite the interesting interaction, might I add-" Felix chuckled, and placed a hand on your shoulder. You blushed in embarrassment, knowing he was referring to the ridiculous prank the two of you pulled on your best friend.

Sheba noticed your blush and smiled; eyebrow raised curiously. "Interestin' how? I'd like to know."

Felix glanced at you with a soft smile; as though silently asking for your permission to tell them the tale. His kind brown eyes and gentle smile made you long to lean into him, so that he could wrap his arm around you. The temptation was so strong, that you slowly began to gravitate towards him unknowingly.

"I...I suppose."
You replied softly to his silent question, looking away from his face in embarrassment. You felt as though you had been staring for too long.

Felix's POV:

I began to notice that she was ever-so-slowly moving closer and closer to me, but I didn't say anything. It was probably just nerves causing her to do so; especially with two new and unfamiliar people in the room with us. She did mention a few hours ago that she was prone to become anxious. I paid it no mind, letting it happen. I had no problem with her seeking a bit of physical reassurance. Having been given permission, I began storytelling about how we met four hours earlier, how we pranked her friend in a silly way, and so on.

Topsy and Sheba occasionally laughed and commented, finding it amusing. Once I had finished telling them what had happened, they agreed that how we met was indeed unusual, but also adorable. Adorable, they say? I knew where this was going.
Knowing them, I didn't exactly believe they would simply see it as 'wholesome'. As most women do, they get excited about pairing people together.

Y/N's POV:

I suddenly felt something warm against my left arm, and looked up, I was now pressed up against Felix's side without previously noticing. Did I seriously do that without realizing it?? This is so embarrassing...

I froze when I felt his arm wrap around my shoulders; as though in a comforting manner. The heat rushed to my cheeks as I stayed completely still.
Topsy and Sheba immediately teased playfully with a chorus of "Ooo's~" and "Felixxxx~"

Felix's POV:

Despite knowing how it would look on my part, I still wrapped my right arm around her shoulder, hoping to give her some sense of comfort in the situation. Just as I suspected, my younger sister and best friend began teasing us about our current position.

"Alright, alright. Let's settle down." I smiled, and led (Y/n) over to the couch, letting her sit down. "Turn it down a notch, ladies. She's probably overwhelmed."

Sheba went over to me, nudging me lightly with her elbow. "Yeah, overwhelmed by my best pal's attractiveness~" She chuckled, and bumped her hip against mine with a smirk.

I playfully rolled my eyes with a light smirk, and made my way into the kitchen to get (Y/n) some water. I grabbed a water bottle from the fridge, and returned to the lounge room, sitting down beside to her, then handed it to her. She thanked me quietly, and took it, taking slow sips of the cool water.

(A/N: Aussies typically call a living room a "lounge" or "lounge room")

Y/N's POV:

As I took slow sips of my water, I allowed my eyes to drift to Felix, to explore his face, muscular features, and feeling a strong urge to feel that soft looking jet-black fur and hair of his. I bit my lip, and turned my head away. I began to aggressively chug my water in hopes to distract myself. His kind brown eyes immediately fell upon me with concern, worried that I was beyond overwhelmed.

"Would you like me to ask them to leave the room?" He whispered softly to me.

I merely shook my head, and flashed him a gentle smile. I found it sweet that he was concerned for me. I was completely fine. At least that's what I told myself. Hey! It isn't my fault he looks so god damn attractive! "I'm sorry for my behavior," I began shyly, setting the nearly empty water bottle in my lap. "I'm not usually like this."

Felix fell to silence, thinking for a long moment, before giving a nod and a smile. He most likely assumed I was acting this way because I was meeting my hero in person, and spending time with him all in one day. Which I would say is half the truth.

"It's fine, my dear. No one here is judging you. I just want to make sure you're alright."
He replied simply, gently rubbing my back in reassurance, then stood up to give me some space and relax.

I was sad that he had moved away, but maybe it would be best if I caught my breath first, and collected my thoughts maturely. I felt like a teenage girl falling head-over-heels for this man. I need to keep it together.
