Naomi and Blaine were in the auditorium with all the directors, singing 'Tonight' to get their thoughts on what could be done better or if anything needed to change. Both Blaine and Naomi sharing smiles occasionally and looking at each other, under Arties scrutinizing gaze.
They looked just like they were friends.
As they finish singing standing next to each other while holding hands, Bieste and Emma begin to clap for them. Naomi and Blaine share an amused look with one another before Blaine tentatively asks, "Are you gonna cry every time we sing?" Promptly evoking a round of giggles from Naomi.
"I'm such a girl." Bieste sniffles looking down to try and hide that she's crying.
"My only note is more teeth." Emma tells them happily as they both nod and smile at each other with extra teeth making one another start laughing at the weird face the other is pulling.
"Can I be honest?" Artie blurts out suddenly, "This song is about sexual awakening, as is the entire musical. You two lack passion. Have either of you two actually...?" He asks them gesturing his head to convey what he really means while both Naomi and Blaine stand there shocked and even more awkwardly.
"Wow okay I have to go." Emma says standing suddenly muttering an excuse to leave.
"Those footballs aren't gonna inflate themselves." Bieste says also standing up and going to leave as well before Artie turns back to the two infront of him.
"Look, I remember my first time with Brittany. The excitement, the way it made me feel like a man... even though she called me the wrong name like four times, during and after. What was it like for you guys?" Artie tells them casually acting as though this was all normal and they were just talking about the weather and not the topic at hand.
"Um..." Naomi stutters nervously before looking down and muttering, "I'm not comfortable with this."
Blaine having heard what she mumbled, took the lead and tells Artie, "I'm waiting for the right time."
"Mhmm." Naomi weakly mumbles out to Artie before whispering to Blaine. "I'm so glad you are Tony."
"Look, as your friend I support your strange aversion to fun." Artie tells them not noticing how Naomi looks down and swallows thickly thinking about how her first time was with Sam. "But as your director I'm concerned."
"I'm sorry, what do you mean?" Naomi asks him confused as to why this matters at all.
"Well, Blaine, how do you expect to convey the human experience to an audience when you haven't even opened yourselves up to one of humanity's most basic and primal ones? Naomi, we all know you and Sam did it last year, or at least all the guys know." Artie tells her watching as Naomi's eyes widen comically wide, "I think that you aren't acting your best because you forgot how it feels, so I want you to open your mind up to that with your new boyfriend."
"I-I-" Naomi starts to stutter out before Artie cuts her off.
"Think about it." He tells her getting both her and Blaine to awkwardly look at each other.
