7. Special Education

"So, how have you been?" Naomi asks Sam over FaceTime. 

As Sam is about to answer he thinks back to a couple days ago where for a week straight he was moping around McKinley, where he was so depressed he ate a tub of ice cream alone in his room, where he was so depressed he only worked out once every other day. After realizing that its been a while of him thinking Sam cautiously mutters out "Uh-uh good, I guess. As good as I can be- you know." Sam tells her before looking at her through the computer sadly, "I miss you. A lot."  

"I miss you too, more than you know." Naomi tells him getting sad before she then moves off topic. "Hows Kurt? Whats going on back there?" She asks Sam scared of what he's gonna say.

"Kurt um- actually left the New Directions, actually he left McKinley." Sam tells her looking at her shocked face. "Yeah, um- he moved to Dalton after Karofsky threatened to kill him." Sam tells her as she gasps in shock. "yeah then the glee guys and I stood up to him. Thats how I got this shiner." Sam tells her gesturing to his black eye.

"I think it's really hot." Naomi tells him with a fond smile happy that despite her not being there, Kurt had another protector in her ex-boyfriend. As she tells him this Sam blushed really hard and smiled shyly.

"I missed you a lot at Burt and Carols wedding," Sam tells her before going on, "dancing with all the other glee girls just didn't feel as right as it should have been with you there." He tells her getting a small smile in return before something catches Naomi' attention off screen. 

"Hey, I have to go. My mom just bought some groceries and I need to help her bring them all in." Naomi tells him sadly.

"Okay, I love you." Sam tells her smiling gently at her. 

"I love you too, goodbye I'll talk to you later." Naomi tells him before she hangs up the call.

"Bye..." Sam mutters to himself as he rubs the back of his neck.

"Mr. Schuester, I have an announcement." Rachel says as she stands up and continues talking. "I have selected the perfect moving ballad for Finn and I to sing for our performance at sectionals." She tells him smiling and happy as the rest of the glee club roll their eyes except for Sam who has been zoned out and sulking to himself as he sits next to Naomi's chair. 

"Me first." Will says cutting her off before she can continue, "Two things, first out competition at sectionals are your classic stool choirs, wonderful voices but they don't move. If we're gonna beat them we need to do what they can't, Dance." He tells the group of teens as he walks closer to them. "Which is why I've decided to feature Brittany and Mike Changs sweet moves in our performance." He tells them all receiving either gasps of excitement or shock in the case of Rachel.

"Wait they're gonna dance infant of me while I sing my solo?" Rachel asks confused and not too thrilled at the idea.

"You're not getting a solo for this competition Rachel." Will informs the girl.

"Finally, so what song do I get to sing." Mercedes asks assuming that she will get a solo.

"Actually, I was thinking that the winners of our duets competition  could take the leads." He tells the group earning a lot of confusion from some people, seeing their confusion clearly he continues to go on, "I originally wanted the solo to be Sam and Naomi's, however due to Naomi no longer being here, I think that Quinn should take the lead instead." He finishes telling the group. 

"Ken and Barbie?" Rachel asks him mad beyond belief. "Are- are you trying to throw this?" 

"You used to be just kind of unlikeable but I now I pretty much feel like punching you every time you open your mouth." Quinn tells Rachel as Sam laughs a bit finally paying attention after he heard Naomi's name and having pieced to gather what was going on.
