Third pov
Thanks to Mardelna Kora's efforts, the robbers team won against the cops team. But that was partly because Kora managed to pin both Arabella and Victoria down, who were proven to be a strong driving force if paired together.
After PE however, Arabella avoided everyone like the plague. She never appeared in any of classes, and was absent during lunch times. Itami made a note of this and question Sabo if he knew anything.
"I was fighting her today at PE class." Sabo says at lunch, "But she was...different."
Itami frowns, "Different how?"
"Well," Kora chimes in, "I believe it is partially mine and Victoria's fault. We might've said or done something that set her off. But the thing is...is that we have no idea what it could've been."
Itami stared between Victoria and Kora, confused as to how the two of them could've possibly done. Itami vaguely knew of the family rivalry between the Mardelna and Moonlight. But she thought fully and honestly that Kora and Arabella were good friends - she sees the two of them talk a lot every now snd then.
'Maybe she brought something up...? I have no idea on this one...'
"But when Sabo talked to her, she seemed to have zoned back in but like, not fully. Plus I heard her murmur a name...it was like...Valkiria?" Victoria mentioned.
"I think...I might have an idea." Kira suddenly says.
The five of them gaze over to Kira who was silently eating her lunch. She placed her utensils down and clears her throat.
"Valkiria is Arabella's older sister - the initial heir to the Moonlight family. They used to be close before Itami and I were introduced. But things became rocky...when Valkiria dated your brother, Kora." Kira states.
Kora sighs, "They were never meant to be."
"Why, what happened with them?" Sabo inquires.
"Valkiria doesn't really do commitment. The last time she put her full commitment into the family business, she ended up emotionally scarred from it all. Hence why Sir Dimitri and Lady China looked towards Arabella becoming the next heir. Valkiria was proven to be emotionally incompetent of setting boundaries, as she would get emotionally involved with her intended targets. Now she is unhinged, and would rather just want the physicality of intimacy." Kira explains.
"Whereas Veron, my brother," Kora adds, "was the complete opposite. Valkiria was his first relationship. But he found out that she slept with multiple other guys, and killed a couple of them. That's why tensions are high between our families. Veron nearly killed Valkiria. So it's up to Arabella and I to fix that. But after today? I am not so sure..."
"Anyway," Kira carries on, "my guess from the way Arabella acted...she might've been triggered from seeing you two interact in such a way. As disappointed Arabella is in her, Valkiria is first and foremost her sister. She loved her more than anything. She was her first best friend. And then she ran away, and hasn't seen her for a long time."
•••
It's been a long time since Arabella had last cried. She's rather not think about what happened last time she cried. But of course, melancholic memories bubbled up again when she was watching the interaction between Victoria and Kora.
It's not that she was mad at them in any way. She was happy that they has each other. But at the same time...
'Their relationship just seems so genuine. So pure. It makes me feel lonely.'
