Chapter 13

(Back to Zoey's POV)

We got out of the car and walked to the door. Through the broken

screen door was my grandpa and some of my other relatives. Silent

tears ran down his face as my great aunt held his hand. Just the look

on his face made me want to cry. It was the look of sadness in it's

purest form. Tears started to form in my eyes but I told myself I had

to stay strong, for him.

That night we stayed at the house. It was weird being in the house.

The sounds of nature putting you to sleep instead of honking horns and

police sirens. It was different, not really weird but different. It

was almost too relaxing to be possible.

I sat down on the small twin size bed that I would be using for the

next few days. I layed my head down on the headboard and closed my

eyes. I thought about going to sleep but then I realized that it was

not even seven o'clock. I went over to the book sleeve and started to

look through different titles. I came to a book that was fairly small,

just the right size for me. I pulled it out and looked at the cover.

It was of a little girl with a frog on her foot. The title is Tuck

Everlasting. I have never read it before but, I guess there's a first

time for  everything. I got into my comfy pajama pants and layed down

under the blankets.

Tears flowed steadily down my face now. My eyes are red and puffy and

nose is running. Normally I would not have cried over a book. But this

book was especially sad because of the ending. I got out my book

journal. It gave a description of all the books I had ever read. Except

when I was little of course.

It was a love story, yet not. It told of a girl around the age of

ten who only wanted to run away from home. She ventures out to the

other side of the road one day and saw a boy, about the age of 16 get

a drink from a spring in the ground. She demanded a drink but, he

wouldn't let her. She had not known at the time that, that was a

fountain of youth. The family basically kid-napped her and then had to

explain to her about the spring. Meanwhile a man in a yellow suit had

over heard them talking of the spring and now has the idea that he

could make money off of it. Now that he knows where the "missing"

daughter is he is going to propose a trade. He will tell the girls

parents where she is and he would get there land that had the spring

on it. Winnie (the ten year old girl) or Winifred, learns to love the

Tuck family (a family that had all drank from the spring) she did not
