This couldn't be happening! Now I had to explain to Mark and Garret that I can't go out with them this summer. Speaking of guys, Garret is going to pick me up soon so I need to get ready.

I hurried over to my closet. We were going to the beach, so I chose my sequined baby blue bikini. Then I threw on a knee-length white sun dress as a cover-up.  I skipped into the bathroom and re-applied my makeup. I was ready. I sat on the couch to wait. He was supposed to pick me up at seven, and it was already 7:10. I'd let him get away with being late because he was the hottest boy in the grade, going on a date with me!

He showed up at 7:13. I hollered goodbye to my mom and stepped out the door.

"Sorry I'm late, I had to go to the store to get something for tonight" he explained.

"That's okay. Are we ready to go?" I asked. "Yep," he said, showing me to his brother's red convertible.

His brother was probably in the tenth grade, and just as cute as Garret; which means REALLY cute!

When we turned into the South Pier parking lot, Garret shouted, "We're here!"

"Have fun, bro," Garret's brother said as he drove away. We strolled to the end of the pier and looked out over the ocean. It was truly beautiful. The sun was setting on the water.

"I'm going to Florida for the summer, so this isn't going to work," I told Garret bluntly. I wanted to get it out of the way. His reaction surprised me: he leaned forward and his lips brushed mine.

I was totally shocked; not only was it my first kiss, but this was our first date. I didn't know how to react.

He spoke up " You want to go down to the beach?" I nodded, not quite sure how to form words.

We walked down to the shore and plopped down on the towel that he'd brought. He pulled a whole bunch of sweets out of his bag. The last thing he pulled out of the bag was sour straws.

My senses came back to me automatically and I snatched them out of his hands. I jumped up off of the towel and took off running.  He jumped up and started chasing me.

Other than cheerleading, the only sport I like is track, so I was outrunning him by quite a bit. I ripped open the package and put one in my mouth. It was apple flavored; my favorite.

We ran for what seemed like forever. Finally, I had to stop( I was out of breath. He caught up with me and snatched the package from my hands.

"Why did you run?  I would have shared!" he said. I really didn't know why I had ran, so I just said, "I thought it would be more fun."

"You think that running for 15 minutes is fun?" he asked me incredulously.  I nodded, even though in reality, that was a little much for me.

"Why did you kiss me?" I asked. Crap, did I say that out loud? I slapped my hand over my mouth as if that action would stop the words that had already come out.

"I did that because I wouldn't have a chance to do that later," he explained.

"Oh, I see."  I still didn't really see, because it was still the first date.

We went out to the ocean and splashed around. I got him in the face and he was leaning down holding his face. I started to come toward him, but all of a sudden, he splashed me back.

"Oh, gosh, I'm sorry!" Garret came towards me. I was about to do the same thing that he did to me, but the salt water in my eyes stung like mad. I was starting to feel bad for splashing him!

I raced back up to shore and flushed my eyes with the water bottle that we brought before passing it to Garret. We both wouldn't stop apologizing, so I got out the candy and started to eat.

We sat and ate junk food until his brother came back to pick us up. We got in the car and drove off. They dropped me off just before my curfew, 9:30. I was still tired from that long run. I tiredly removed my makeup, let my hair down and got into my comfy pajamas. I texted Karley, Kiley, and Chloe that it went well, but I didn't give them any details.

On Monday morning, I got ready for school like usual. I was excited to see Garret, though I didn't know what he would act in front of me. Anyway, I wanted to see him.

When I got to school, I was surprised. He didn't act like normal, bur he definitely wasn't with me all day.

Garret, the boy that gave me my first kiss on Saturday night, had his arm around one of my best friends: Karley.
