Almost slipped from his grasp

I opened my eyes and felt a pair of warm, strong arms wrapped around my body. My first thought was Ej, but then I remembered he was gone so it had to be Ricky. I smiled like a fool knowing that Ricky had me wrapped up in his arms. I looked at the clock and saw it was already 6:30am. I sighed. It's not like I wanted to leave Ricky's arms. Hell, I would stay in them all day... cuz that's what all friends do! Am I right? Or am I right? Yeah no, I'm not right.

I slowly untangled my body from Ricky's grip, but once I stood up, he pulled me back down. His eyes were still closed so I couldn't tell if he was still sleeping or not. I laughed a little and finally untangled myself from his strong grip.

I finally got off the makeshift bed and grabbed my bag which luckily had my uniform in it. I quietly got changed and walked out to the cafe. I looked at the now clean beach. I'm not gonna lie... I was very impressed with how clean it looked. I walked into the cafe and saw Lynne who was cleaning a table and Gina who was smiling at her phone.

"Hey guys!" I said grabbing a cup of coffee. "Hello dear! When did you head out last night?" Lynne asked as she dropped the washcloth in the sink. "Oh well I was with Ricky just-" I began but Gina cut me off. "I got this adorable picture of them!" She squealed. "What!?" I asked walking over to Gina who was showing the picture to Lynne.

"Oh my lord, how adorable is that?!" Lynne said glancing at me and smiling. I sighed and went over to Gina grabbing her phone from her grip. My eyes widened as I looked at the picture. It was of Ricky and I... on his futon. The blue covers were covering our bodies and I was facing Ricky's chest with my hands around his neck. Ricky's face was buried in my neck and his arm was wrapped around my waist. I blushed, it almost looked unreal. "All friends do that!" I said walking away and placing my dishes in the sink. I turned back around to see the two women looking at me with a look that said 'are you serious?'

"Well it's nothing! Ricky and I are just friends! That's it!" I said, sighing. "Yeah, I'm not really buying it missy. Oh, before I forget... Lily is throwing another beach party tonight. Red and I plan on going, and obviously Ricky's coming... I figured if  you've got nothing to do tonight, you should come." Gina said to me as we grabbed our notepads and Lynne flipped the sign to 'open'.

"Of course!" I said, happily. "Great! Come over after your surfing lesson and we can get ready!" Gina said, happily. Then I spotted a lady looking for a seat so I walked over to her. I waited on people for the next few hours, smiling still every time I thought of the picture of Ricky and I. I need to stop thinking of him! He's just my friend, we're both in relationships! Shit!

I saw Lily walk in with a group of girls so I got them a table and as I was giving them their orders, I overheard their conversation. "I was so bummed out last night!" Lily whined as I rolled my eyes handing the first girl her meal. "Why?" An overly tanned girl asked the blonde. "Because Ricky said he was coming over to my house last night! I was going to give him a special birthday present if you know what I mean, but no! He never showed up!" Lily whined as I handed them the rest of their food and I smiled to myself.

Ha! He slept with me instead of his girlfriend. Well... not sex, not that I would mind- stop! The only person I should think about doing that with is Ej! I said scolding myself.

I walked back to serve more people when Lynne called my name "Nini? Are you busy?" The older woman asked. I shook my head. "Perfect! Could you come into my office, please?" I nodded, suddenly nervous. As I walked into the back of the restaurant, I turned around and saw Gina mouthing 'are you in trouble?' I mouthed back, 'I hope not'. I walked into Lynne's small office. "I'll be there in one second!" She yelled from down the hall. "Alright!" I yelled back as I played with my thumbs nervously.
