Chapter 4-Dragon man and spider face

I said my goodbyes to my mom wondering if I'd see her again and I really wanted to say goodbye, but my throat was closing up from the fear of walking into this whole new world. I walked with Oscar and Audree in silence. Suddenly Oscar grabbed me by the hand and Audree by her waist and pulled us into an alley nearby. 'What was that for?'

'I sense something coming I bet you feel it too' he looked at Audree. 'Yes, I did notice it, but I didn't mention it'. Then we heard footsteps, sounded like a heavy-footed man but when I listened closer, I could have sworn I heard more footsteps. And they sounded like they were getting closer.My heart was racing, I've been in this situation with bullies but if they sensed something was up it was even worse. 'Okay we need to prepare to fight because I'm sure that these guys aren't friendly. As Aurora said we have to protect Kai so Audree...protective circle it is'. Oscar looked like this was nothing...I have a feeling this was nothing to them.

Audree turned to me and said 'Kai, stay right here. When we're done, we'll come back for you'. I simply nodded and sat against the wall while both of them pulled their weapons out. I really wanted to help but I knew I was useless in this situation, so I didn't argue. Suddenly I felt a really huge gust of wind. And I saw what had caused it, there was a man he was wearing a purple suit and tie and a green fedora. He had HUGEEE black wings on his back, they looked like dragons' wings. He flapped them and a huge gust of wind came. Behind him there were dark figures that I couldn't really make out at first but later I looked at them and oh my god they were weird. They had slicked back black hair and had pale white skin and their eyes were the worst part of the whole look. They had pitch black eyes, but they had 6 of them in rows of two on their face. Their teeth were razor sharp and I saw one of them bite the stone off one of the buildings nearby, and they wore what seemed to be Hawaiian printed shirts in all colors.

I muffled a scream, their eyes gleamed maliciously in the dark, they snarled in our direction. 'What are they?' I whispered so low that Oscar and Audree almost couldn't hear me. 'Hexalops, they are mean creatures, very savage. They normally rip their victims heads off first before eating them'. Oscar said this like he was reading off a Wikipedia page about them, and his nonchalant way of speaking did not help with that. 'So how do you defeat them?'. 'Well just go to war I guess...I don't know their weaknesses, but they are weak. I think Maximus thought that it would be enough to get you, he underestimated us all'. Oscar said this with a laugh. He got up along with Audree who had got a bunch of arrows in her quiver, she seemed to be glowing or was that my imagination? 'Come out little boy, I know you're here somewhere'.It was an eerie voice, it sounded like if a person burned their throat off. I felt my hair stand up on the back of my neck. Oscar nodded at me and Audree and both of them took off.
