Chapter 8-Alex is a good boy

Oscar shook me awake yelling something into my ear. I got up so fast I almost hit him with my forehead and punched him in face at the same time. He laughed "That's the attitude ma man, we need that in your training today." He patted me on the back so hard that it felt like my shoulder was going to get dislocated. I noticed that it was dark outside "What time is it?" I asked drowsily. "It's about 4:30 in the morning." He said cheerfully. "We need to start your day early don't we now?". Oscar got up and left the tent, I took a shower [they had showers in the tents I have no idea how], got dressed and went outside to meet him he handed me a bronze breastplate, a helmet with a yellow mohawk and elbow and knee guards "You will need these for your first day, don't want you to get hurt now do we?" I stared at him "wha-"

"Just put them on".

I did as he told, I looked like a kid who was playing 'save the world' with fake armor, which was too big for him, except I was in real armor.

"Alright here's your daggers and now go into the forest and come back before dinner time. We're having cake today for dessert, you'd want to come back".

"Hey but Audree said that I can't guide my way through the forest without a native".

"Well, I put a spell on your armor to help you find your way back, I can also use it to get you lost". He snapped his fingers and suddenly I was in the middle of the wilderness. I screamed "OSCARRRRRRRRRRRR! I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!", and with that I started trudging through the woods calling Oscar a few colorful names I came up for him. I stared at my daggers, they had black blades and their handles were wrapped with soft black leather. They glinted in the sunlight, creating this rainbow spots on the forest floor, when I moved them around. Then suddenly I heard a rustle behind me, I turned sharply and saw an animal. It was like a lion, but it had legs...8 of them, it also had wings each the size of Oscar. It had golden eyes, its fur, mane and its wings were black. It was staring right through me. I stifled a whimper and tried to look calm, but I actually was like 'AHHHHHHHHH! LION PEGASUS WEIRD THINGY!!!!'

But strangely it had this energy around it that made me feel comfortable which was odd for a hybrid lion Pegasus. It released the tension from its legs and just sat down on the forest floor. I gave it a confused look 'what in the world is it doing? It should have ripped me to shreds by now'. It just looked at me and started washing itself. I wanted to try and go near it despite the fact that I could be dead within a second.

I took two steps towards him [I decided it was a boy for now], he didn't even notice me. I went closer and he looked at me with his golden eyes. I swallowed and stuck my hand out wondering if this was the last time, I'd ever see it again. I stretched my hand out for about 2 minutes, then he touched his nose to my palm, I took a deep breath and started to pet his head. He liked it, he started to ask for more and soon we were playing together, like I was his best friend. "Hey buddy, will you do me a favor, can you get me to the tribe in the forest? I'm sure you know them." He grunted and shook his head to his back. I took this as "Get on" and got on his back. I dug my hands into his mane, and he launched into the sky at a million miles per hour. I screamed and looked down; we were so high up. I spotted the village and said "Look! There it is, you think you could land me there?" He grunted and started to descend. My screams soon turned into laughs and before I knew it, we were in the middle of the camp with everyone staring at us. I got off, gave him a big hug and said "Thank you so much Alex (I named a lion Pegasus Alex okay? Give me a break), he purred and took off into the sky and I watched him until he became a black dot in the horizon.

I looked back at everyone, "I'm back everyone, is the cake ready yet?". Oscar came running to me "yo-you just rode that thing and came out of the forest?" he asked. "well, you didn't exactly say don't ask the animals for help and I didn't even need the spell he already seemed to know the way back here."

"That creature.... He- I better explain later," "I named him Alex, he seems to like his name" I said. "You need to talk to chief, now". He grabbed my hand and started to drag me to the chief's tent.
