POV: Lena

Finally a date was going well. The guy was nice, polite, interesting, funny, listened to me instead of just talking about himself, had a super nice smile, and I felt like I could really be myself around him.

After we had finished eating at a super chill diner, cause I made him promise nothing fancy or stuck up, he suggested we went to the Hollywood sign to watch the sunset. Obviously, I agreed, cause ya girl loves sunsets.

Right so, we were running up the last part of the hill and around a small corner just before the sign. I turned and looked at him with a smile and said "race ya" then took off running.

I heard him laugh and start running after me and I looked back to see him getting closer which made me squeal and laugh before running faster trying to win.

We finally made it to the sign and while we were trying to catch our breath between laughing he got a phone call, great.

He gave me a quick smile as he answered the call and stepped away. I took the hint that he wanted privacy and walked away from the sign a bit and looked out at the view.

About a minute later he came walking over apologizing and saying something about an emergency with one of his friends. I nodded at him telling him I understood he had to go and with that he left back down the hill.

I sighed and said out loud to myself "of course- doubt he'll ever call again so another night wasted. Lena you seriously gotta learn to just leave these guys alone and stop hoping to find your soulmate on some random ass date"

After standing around for a couple minutes I looked around and walked to a spot that looked more comfortable to sit and watch the sunset, only half paying attention to where I was walking.

I look down as I near a patch of grass on the edge of the cliff and stop myself from walking before tripping on someone laying on the ground.

"OH- OMG IM SO SORRY" I blurt out not realizing the person had earbuds in and probably couldn't hear me.

I take a step back as the person sits up and I watch him take an earbud out and look around trying to find where the voice had come from.

When his eyes land on me, he gave me a smile that sent the craziest chill down my spine.

He shakes his hair and some dust goes flying out from laying on the ground and my breath catches in my throat as his soft voice breaks the silence "it's alright, no worries".

I smile at the small chuckle that came through in the middle of his sentence then look out at the view so he can't see me blushing.

"You come here a lot?" I ask, glancing down at him after getting a grip on myself, he is a stranger after all.

I watch him nod and smile a bit and nod too then look back out at the view, both of us just sitting in the silence.

I bite my tongue and debate asking what my heart is telling me to ask.

I take a deep breath and look at him again. "Mind if I sit with ya?"

He looks up at me and his facial expression is.... confused?

"Thought you were here with someone-" he mumbles.

I laugh a bit and shake my head. "I was but they got a call and had to go" I respond and keep my eyes on him.

He nods and smiles then looks out at the sunset again. "Have a seat, mystery girl"

I look at him a bit surprised before smiling and sitting down next to him.

I hold out my hand and introduce myself, "Lena".

He shakes my hand and responds, "pretty name, I'm Jack".
