POV: Jack

Just before leaving the house to go to rehearsal my phone dings. I look at the text from Daniel telling me today's my day to get everyone drinks to wake up before rehearsing.

Sending a quick 'ok' then running out the door to get to the coffee shop near the studio before it got too busy.

While waiting in line, I look around the cafe to distract myself when I happen to spot a familiar face.

I smile to myself, glad to see her again then quickly order all the drinks.

Considering it's for like 10 people I knew it would take a while for them to get the whole order ready so I decided to walk over to the booth that Lena is sitting in.

I lean against the side of the booth and smile at her, my arms loosely crossed in front of me.

I wait till she looks up at me before talking, "Fancy seein' you here"

She laughs a bit and responds "very fancy, Jack of Hearts"

Holy cow- the butterflies that just exploded in my stomach from her laugh and the nickname she gave me, i was amazed I didn't pass out right there.

Oh right fuck- can't zone out like that. I smile and laugh a bit then look around the cafe thinking.

"What's gotcha here so early?" I finally ask as my eyes meet hers.

"Sun woke me up, you?"

"I'm on coffee duty today"

"Coffee duty?"

"Yeah- I uhm- I'm in a band and we've got early rehearsal today and the boys need coffee, well, except Daniel, crazy man prefers apple juice"

I watch as she sips her latte then laughs at my comment about Daniel and she almost spits it out before responding through her laughter, "That is crazy"

"Ye-" I begin responding my name is called from a worker, damn drinks. "I gotta go but- I'll text you later" I smile at her before running off to get the drinks.

I smile to myself as I hear her laugh and I get the drinks and head out to my car.

While driving to the studio my mind got thinking about the past month, all the shit I'd went through, all the stress of not wanting to leave my bed but having to help the band write songs.

All through rehearsal my mind was focused on that, I was distracted and pouty every time we weren't singing or learning a dance.

I felt bad. I knew it was my fault things were falling behind schedule cause I hadn't put my all into writing and I knew the boys blamed me and probably hated me a bit for it all as well.

I tried to keep myself on time with rehearsals, remembering the lyrics and chords and choreography, knowing if I messed up I'd let everyone down and thankfully, I didn't.

As we were packing up our things Jonah suggests dinner, knowing we'd all be hungry.

Of course we all agree and just as we're heading to the parking lot my phone dings.

Lena🥺: Hey- Ik ur probably tired cause u mentioned rehearsals but ig I was wondering if u wanted to hang out tonight?

Jack: I would but I told the boys I'd have dinner with them- and they definitely won't let me bail so unless you wanted to come to that- tonight's an unfortunate no go :(

Lena🥺: I'm down if theyre ok with it :)

Jack: really? Ok- uh yeah lemme check with them real quick then I'll send you the details :D it'll probably be in like an hour btw-

Lena🥺: sounds good, Jack of Hearts

I smile and put my phone back in my pocket and race over to the boy's to ask if they're okay with Lena joining us.

They agree since I'd been talking about her all day, mainly just to distract them and myself from the sad overthinking I had going on.

We all drive home to change and shower before heading out to the restaurant.

I smile as I walk to the door and see Lena, she's got on just a simple skirt and a cropped, loose tank top but damn she took my breath away.

I notice she's not paying attention so as I walk up to her a say her name, "Lena!"

She spins around and looks at me and smiles.

"Hey Jack!"

The other boys walk up behind me and I try to hide getting nervous about introducing her to them.

"Guys, this is Lena"
