Longer Chapter

— your POV —

I don't know how long we sat there just hugging each other and not talking, just listening to each other's breaths and the silence in his room. It felt all so soothing, gave me so much power after not having anything left anymore. Some time later I fell asleep in his arms.

When I woke up I had a duvet over my body and was laid on the bed, Loki laying next to me also asleep. I sit straight up, the duvet falling down into my lap. I let my legs fall off the bed and sit on the side of it, take a deep breath and close my eyes once more.

The window is open. I can still hear birds chirp, the wind blowing through the trees, moving the leaves that are hanging on the branches, some insects buzzing and I can hear an owl. It's all accompanied with a silent snore coming from behind me. I take another deep breath before opening my eyes again.

I lift the duvet from my legs and stand up, moving as quiet as possible to not wake Loki. I take a jacket from him, because I'm not exactly wearing much since I was pretending to be asleep hours ago, which included the right clothes and I wanted to disappear from this place as quick as possible, so I didn't change.

After I left his room and saw that there are no lights turned on in the building, a sigh left my mouth and some kind of relief washed over me. I walk towards some staircase I've never really been fond of. It leads to the direction I'm attempting to go to. It's been my comfort place for months and I really need to be there right now.

When I opened the door, a fresh breeze blew in my face but it wasn't too fresh, but also not too warm. It had the perfect temperature to not freeze but to also not sweat. I go to the edge of the roof and sit down, feet hanging off the building. Then I close my eyes again, the wind blowing through my hair and this time, a content sigh leaves my mouth.

This place - this roof, it's exactly where I need to be, where my place in the world is. I've never really felt to belong to a certain place, but this roof just always seemed to be made for me - just seemed like home. I can hear every noise now clearer than when I was inside. The buzzing of the insects louder than expected, but it's perfect for this night.

-Loki: "I knew I would find you here." I wasn't scared of his sudden presence, his voice in a soft tone and there was enough space between us.

-Y/n: "I think I fell in love with this roof." I say kinda jokingly, kinda serious and open my eyes to look at him with a small but true smile.

-Loki: "How are you feeling?" His look now worried and he carefully stepped closer to me.

-Y/n: "I actually don't know. I think I'm afraid he'll show up tomorrow and every day after, just to get me back again." I stare into the landscape, on nothing particular.

-Loki: "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have let you go, not after knowing what he did to you." He was now standing beside my sitting body.

-Y/n: "It's not your fault, at least not completely. I had still some hope in him, I loved him. It's hard fo accept that a person you thought you knew turns out to be someone... who actually just wants to hurt you." The last part of the sentence was said with kind of a short laughter.

-Loki: "You're save now. I promise to never let you go to him again... even if I have to give my life." We're looking each other deeply in the eyes. I turn around so that my body is facing him and that he's slightly standing between my legs.

It's been surely a whole minute while we were just staring in each other's eyes, accompanied with the noises of the night, not talking just enjoying the presence of each other. Body warmth radiating between us even though there's a not too small gab between us and we're not touching each other.
