A Little Pieces of Heaven

Chapter 4

Day to Day

Pigsy woke up early the next morning kissing Tang goodbye as he had to open the noodle shop and the shop was no place for a baby. Spilling food, splashing oil, long legs. So Tang would take him to his work. It was less noisy and a whole lot more room for him to grow.

Tang pulled the papoose over his shoulders and fit Xiaotian into the spot. With the diaper bag over his shoulder, plenty of diapers, and milk inside he made off for work.

The baby slept most of the way to the college. His little head resting against his chest he conducted his classes flawlessly as usual. At least for the first four hours. Around lunchtime Tang fished him out of his nice warm spot to change him, and feed him. Right back to sleep he went. Babies slept a whole lot. So Tang placed MK into a bouncer he had stowed in one of the closets for the other mothers that attended his classes.

"He's so cute Mr. Tang! Is he your nephew? Friends baby?" Several of the ladies asked before class started. The baby was soaking up the attention.

"He's my son." He said to them, The girls giggled and started to talk amongst themselves wondering who the mother was and how much he looked just like his dad.

Sadly though, Xiaotian didn't like this much attention. There were too many people around and he couldn't see Tang because of all the crowding. That's when the bottom lip poked out and he started to cry.

Tang jumped to his defense, fishing him out of the bouncer and held him tightly.

"I think his social card has been revoked." He heard a small chuckle from the door. His assistant walked in and set down some paperwork that had been graded. "It's okay little guy. I'm not going to take you from your pap." He put a newspaper, coffee, and the mail down for the professor who kept running his fingers over his son's hair that stood up all over the place.

"It would seem he doesn't like crowds too much." Tang Whispered kissing his son's head

"Ah, that's most kids though. He'll get used to it. So do I know the lucky lady?" He asked, Tang chuckled and shook his head.

"You've seen him around." That caught him by surprise. He looked down at the boy and then at Tang.

"So he's...adopted." Tang nodded...and stood up watching the other students leave after looking over the baby again.

"Welp I'm off...have fun Jack. I've got to take him to his first doctor's appointment." Tang said as he walked out the door putting Xiaotian back into his papoose and out the door.

Jack didn't like what he heard. Actually it made him angry. He looked around at them and shook his head. In his small mind, gay people shouldn't have a right to infants.

Pigsy waited at the doctor's office. The bus was a little late, but they had planned for that. Finally as the maroon colored city bus drove by letting Tang and their son off Pigsy walked toward them.

"How was he?" Pigsy ran his fingers over the infant.

"Slept the whole way there, and through most of class. Around lunch time I set him free so I could change and feed him. The ladies crowded him, and he had himself a bit of a cry. But I swooped in and saved him." Tang let Pigsy take Xiaotian from the papoose and cradle him. He opened his eyes to see what was going on. They fell upon his dad and he didn't seem to mind his removal. He just curled back in and went back to sleep.

"He met Jack too. Jack seems to know a lot about babies. Maybe I'll go to him for advice if I need it." He yawned as they walked into the brightly colored pediatric office. Tang looked around at the many cartoon characters on the walls. Not a lot he knew, just some from things he had saw. The TV was turned on to a kids channel playing brightly colored cartoons that quite a few seemed to be glued to.

"Zhu!" Pigsy had signed them in which means it was his name that was called. Tang stood up with him and walked into the back.

"Alright let's strip him down and put him on the weight machine." The nurse said.

"All his clothes?" Tang asked. The nurse smiled.

"Yup, even the diaper. Although I'd wait till just before because babies do wiz on the weight machine all the time, and boys can aim." Wow these people were blunt. He watched as Pigsy took off the warm clothing Xiaotian had on.

"9lbs, 3oz." The nurse said, waiting patiently for Pigsy to put his clothing back onto it.

Tang wrote the number down on a pad of paper before pocketing it again.

"If you'll follow me we'll head to a room where we'll wait for Dr. Hawk." The woman started to walk toward the door that read four on it. Within the walls were littered with fish, including a picture of a certain blue fish and the bold letters that read 'just keep swimming'

The nurse left them in the room. Pigsy lay Xiaotian on his lap. The little boy seemed to be thrilled that his feet were out of his socks that Pigsy was trying to get put back onto him.

"Yup, you're going to be the type that just throws your socks off and goes around barefoot aren't you?" Both men jumped after hearing the statement. A tall black bird demon stood in the doorway. A white jacket around his shoulders and the name tag that read 'Dr. Astril A Hawk.'

"I'm Dr. Hawk, I'll be your son's pediatrician from now on. If for any reason you need to call the nurses and if they believe it needs my look see they'll give you an appointment." He told them. He waved at the little boy as he watched Pigsy put back on the socks.

"Alright let's put him up onto the table and we'll look him over."

Pigsy lay his son down on the table and placed a hand on his belly.

"Alright everything looks good with his weight, and height. Looks like he's slightly above average with his height. Which isn't unusual. Males tend to roller coaster along the height." He sighed as he looked over the papers and pointed down at the baby. "What about vaccinations?" Tang gasped and Pigsy closed his eyes.

"We'll give him something for a fever that he'll undoubtedly end up with since he hasn't got any on our records. Tang gasped as he watched a nurse come in and Pigsy sighed and nodded.

He leaned down and kissed Xiaotians forehead.

"It's alright kiddo. It won't last forever."

When the two parents left the room with Xiaotian it wasn't the boy crying...it was Tang.
