A little piece of heaven

Chapter 6

Christmas

The next week proved to be slightly more adorable than the previous. Presents would appear under the tree. It was a common practice for the couple for some time now. Although this year it was mostly for Xiaotian. Boxes colorfully wrapped in cartoon characters, or bags with ribbons all over it. They weren't sure if they were the same things, but they were mostly clothing, or things for a toddlers bedroom.

Light Christmas music filled in from the shopping areas down below. There was a mixture of several and it sounded lovely to most...and honestly Tang didn't usually mind it, but while a four month old tried to sleep it wasn't the best. So They had him in the kitchen while they cooked. It blocked out most of the music.

Tang walked in from work and looked down at Pigsy who was snoring lightly on the kitchen floor. The infant was sleeping on his chest. Tang slowly pulled out his phone and snapped a few pictures before quietly sending one to their friend Sandy who wouldn't be able to make it this year on the account that one of his kittens was sick and he needed to take care of Mo. Such a gentle kitten.

Tang bent down and kissed Pigsy's forehead. It was a more gentle and quiet way to get his attention. Pigsy opened his eyes with a bit of a start. Before feeling the weight of his son on his chest. His hand never left the small child's back. Tang put his fingers to his lips as he helped his partner up.

"How about you and I hit the showers?" Of course Pigsy was all for it. Placing MK into the bed making sure he was just fine, he followed Tang toward the shower. Just as the door closed there was a soft coo from the bed. Both men's shoulders slumped and turned to look at Xiaotian who had rolled over and looked around before his head went back down onto the bed.

"Did he just turn over?" Tang asked. Pigsy nodded, picking up the baby book and the closest pen and started to document the milestone.

Tang leaned over the crib and looked down at the baby as he rolled back over and cooed at him again. He had started making light babbling noises. Just a baby trying to find his choice. He wouldn't fully talk for another few months. So the parents would lean over the crib, or let him lay on a blanket. Listening to every sound he said, and talking to him as if it were a full conversation with an adult.

"Alright...let's open those presents." Pigsy said as he turned on the Christmas tree and put a blanket down so Xiaotian wouldn't be cold.

Tang placed Xiaotian down onto Pigsy's lap where he pulled the blanket up a little.

"Alright big boy. Let's open it from smallest to largest." Tang picked up a present and placed it into his lap. The baby patted the present and chewed it. Pigsy chuckled and lightly tore a corner for him in hopes that maybe he'll get the idea...but technically they just began to open them for him. Tang secretly stuffed a small paper with cut outs of all his first Christmas presents.

Soon enough Xiaotian lay in bed stuffed with baby cereal and milk while the dads sat back and looked at the overcrowded room. There were so many boxes, and toys.

"Pigsy...I think we need a bigger place. He'll need his own room sooner or later." Tang said as he sipped the spiced Chai tea. Pigsy nodded looking at the two trash bags full of wrapping paper and discarded boxes.

"I'll talk to the realtor next week...after the holidays. I"m sure they're not open." Pigsy said as he snuggled closer to Tang. Tang leaned over and whispered to Pigsy about unfinished business...and both parents raced off to the bedroom.

Wukong loved this time of year. Not only was there snow on the top of the mountain, but it was the only time he could get peach confection. He had gifted his monkeys quite a lot of it, and now they sat in front of the tv. Watching the Christmas special of the monkey king. Normally that meant there wouldn't be much else that night. It would be nice and quiet. He pulled the blanket up higher and his monkeys snuggled in tighter. They'd fall asleep that way.

"Wukong..." The monkey king opened his eyes sleepily and looked around.

"Wassat?" He slowly climbed out of his blanket and pile of monkeys to go out of the temple.

"Wukong...I have a message and a present for you." Wukong looked on at the goddess Guanyin.

"Oh! We have hot chocolate and confection if you'd like some goddess." He offered. There was a small station that looked like it had some hot chocolate still steaming in the corner. A single monkey sat there with a cup in hand. Guanyin chuckled and shook her head.

"No thank you." She held out her hand. "It took some searching...but we have found you a successor."

Wukong's excitement stopped and he narrowed his eyes. "Uh huh...and where is this...egotistical bastard that YOU chose?"

Guanyin smiled and held up her hand. The baby's sleeping form appeared.

"He is being raised by none other than Tripitaka's reincarnation, and Pigsy." Guanyin said. Their sleeping forms were next to the infant. Wukong softly smiled as he looked up at her.

"Alright...I'll keep an eye on him for now. But if he doesn't suit my fancy Goddess...you'll be back on the search again. The staff won't just pick anyone." This she knew to be true. She disappeared with a short wave and Wukong walked back into his temple and curled back up onto the couch. Each monkey curled back up to him.
