Katniss POV
"It's your first time you won't get picked!" I tell Prim.
"But Katniss..." Prims starts to complain.
"No, don't say anything." I hand her a pin it's gold and it's a circle with a mockingjay in it. "Nothing bad will happen with it." I take her hand and we walk to the square where other people are. I normally go to the girls section but I'm pregnant. They escort me away from the girls section to the section where the adults are. To the section where you can't volunteer.
Then it strikes me what if she is reaped I can't do anything to help. I'm starting to break down but my mother stops me and calms me down. She comforts me for the first time since my father died. After Effie Trinket says her usual crap she then says,
"As usual Ladies first." She then walks over to the right hand side bowl and picks out a name. She walks over to the microphone and she says something that will change my life forever,
"Primrose Everdeen."

I can't do anything my mum holds me I try struggling but it doesn't work. Effie ignores us and ushers Prim onto the stage, Prim tucks in her tail then once she's up Effie carries on,
"Now for the boys." She walks over to the left hand side leaving my little duck crying on the right hand side.
"Peeta Mellark." She reads off the paper. Great so now I've lost my boy with the bread too. After she says the saying, may the odds be ever in your favour I run forwards and talk to Prim in the Justice Building.
"Times up." A peacekeeper says, he then takes me out. I see the door to Peeta's room and I run in there.
"Peeta please just keep Prim alive." I say quickly, falling over my words as the Peacekeeper grabs me.
Peeta's POV
I say to Katniss,
"I need to tell you something."
"What?" She shouts as she is dragged away. How can they treat her like this, how can they not let her have a few seconds still I begin to answer,
"Katniss I-" I'm cut off my the door slamming. That was my one chance and I blew it, I walk up to the door and put my hand on it then I whisper,
"Katniss I love you."
