14. The Day after Their Breakup

~~The Day after Their Breakup~~

INTRO:

Billie is sitting upright in her bed.

Her eyes are red and when she looks up at us she has tears in her eyes, she doesn't say anything but holds up her phone.

What we see is Michael kissing some random girl, I look up at her with sadness in my eyes, and Ally takes the phone off of her

I roll over and feel a finger poke my eye. I clutch my eye in pain and hear a little giggle from beside me. I open the eye that has not been injured and see a small figure in front of me. It's Lola and she is hysterically laughing at me, her little giggles are like music to my ears.

"Good morning baby," I say to her

"Do you think it is funny to poke mummy in the eye?" I ask her and she smiles

"Yes yes yes" she chants

I feel the bed shift and the person beside me groan- It's Billie. I didn't want her to feel lonely, so I thought it would be the right thing to spend the night in her bed since it was the first night that she would be apart from Michael. Although I had to bring Lola in the bed since she still co-sleeps with me. I guess Lola woke up before me and was bored laying in bed, beside me so she poked me in the eye.

"Good morning crazy child," Billie says to Lola and she pokes her arm and Lola squeal loudly laughing, we both flinch and Billie lets out a small chuckle

"How the times have changed Aves," Billie says to me and I laugh at this, oh our life has changed so much. The last time we had a sleepover was the Friday before the project started. It was me, Billie and Jake. We slept in my living room all day since we were up at 5 am watching all 3 50 shades of Grey. Believe me, they are trashy, but yet so good.

"I know Bil," I say "You stay in bed okay" I reply back and she nods

"Go back to sleep, and when you are ready come down"

I roll out of the bed and pick Lola up and cradle her in my arms, whilst I watch Billie turn over and pull the blanket over her shoulders. She is still in shock, and she says she feels numb. So I am going to do what she did for me when I first broke up with Grayson, which is to look after the girls and drag me out of bed to shower and eat. It is time to repay the favour.

I walk down the stairs and Jamie has Saskia and they are watching the tv. I make both girls a bowl of cereal with some juice for breakfast, whilst I give Lola a little dry cereal and yoghurt. Whilst they are eating I clean the rest of the dishes that we didn't get to the night before.

Once they are done I take all 3 girls to the bathroom to clean their faces, brush their teeth and get ready for the day. At 8.30 Jake drops Ally off and takes Jamie and their son Noah to school. Ally has Ellie and Amelia with her, and she feeds them, whilst I wake Jackson and Ava up so they can get ready for daycare.

I leave Lola downstairs with Ally and try to dress the 2 as best as I can since they are crazy toddlers who don't want to get dressed. I take them down and feed them as well so everyone is fed and clothed for daycare.

We then brush teeth for the 4 toddlers, and Ally and I have to take 2 cars so we get them to school. Billie has to work today and so do I. Whilst I am the manager Billie is the assistant manager, we both often work together since that is when the kids are at daycare and school.

Since Billie is grieving and we are giving her the time to process, Ally is filling in for her today, since she has the day off and Jake also has to go to work. We dash back home and I try to put a nice outfit together but I desperately need to do a load of washing whilst Jake stops in and eats the leftover cereal.

We pull Billie out of bed and get her in the shower before we leave her alone and head to work. My shift is 7 hours today, which is pretty good, and it gives me time to get the kids without having them in aftercare. Jake is going to leave work early to get the oldest 2 from school whilst I will shut the cafe early so Ally and I can get the kids.

Ally and I arrive at the cute little cafe that I work at and we open up. Within minutes we are busy and our day becomes full on. We don't stop until closing and by then I am exhausted. We quickly pick up the kids and bring them home. When we get in the house Billie is laying in bed staring at the wall, I ask her if she wants anything and she says no so I go downstairs so we can sort out the kids and get dinner started.

"What is she doing?" Jake asks

"Looking at the ceiling" I reply "I remember doing it a lot," I say

"Yeah, you did a lot of staring, and silently crying when you thought no one heard," Jake says

"Guess it wasn't so silent then," I remark

"Nope" Ally says and we chuckle

"Thank you guys," I say "I mean it, thank you so much for helping me and the girls, it has been tough and I could really depend on you guys"

"No worries Aves, we are your best friends," Ally says

"Yeah, we are always here for you"

We put some music on whilst the kids are watching a movie and we laugh and dance while making dinner. We are having some chicken with vegetables, and Ally is using her magic to make cupcakes for dessert. The kids don't usually get sweet things but when they do, they come from Ally who is a master baker.

I feel happy for the first time in a long time. We'll feel whole. A lot better about life. I don't know if it was Billie and Michael breaking up that jolted me to the fact that I have a life, and family and friends that need me,

We feed the kids and set them up with dessert before the 3 of us work on bath time. We get them all washed and cleaned in their pyjamas and in bed. We have enough blow-up mattresses, and with my bunking with Billie now, we have just enough room for Jake and Ally and their 3 kids to fit in this small house, Lola isn't in bed with me yet, I have left her on the pullout couch with Ellie and Amelia, and I will bring her up before I go to bed.

Michael must have packed a bag when he left yesterday because we haven't seen him come home to grab any of his things. Jake, Ally and I heat up the plate we made for Billie and go to bring it up to her in the room. I'm holding the plate and we all head into the room, when we go in Billie is sitting upright in her bed. Her eyes are red and when she looks up at us she has tears in her eyes, she doesn't say anything but holds up her phone.

What we see is Michael kissing some random girl, I look up at her with sadness in my eyes, and Ally takes the phone off of her

"Scroll down" Billie whispers and I peer at the phone where she scrolls down and I feel a lump form in my throat.

It's a picture of Grayson and Anna.

They are kissing at some party. It's Grayson's Instagram account, and the caption reads 'mine forever' I look up and almost drop the plate, which Jake grabs from me.

My heart starts beating so fast, I can hear it ringing in my ears. But all I can hear is
