Finntaine: Perspectives

Hey guys! So was watching the deep the other day (Yes, again, don't judge) I just got the feeling there was more to Finntaine than we realised. How do we actually know how much is going on with them behind the scenes? So I decided to do an idea fic based on that. Enjoy!

~~~~~~
Essentially a character study. Imagine Finntaine are a little older across the course of the series and discover how I think Fontaine and Finn and possibly others were thinking whenever they saw each other. They start off at 16 and 17 as friends. Then follow what happens when they finally end up together.
PS: This will bleed into my own ending, since there is no season 4, so don't worry it is finished :) Just as a warning, there is a kissing GIF later on, it's nothing too bad I swear but if you don't want to see it, I would skip or scroll through.
PPS: This may contain some angst as I am feeling like jumping off a building because of my parents atm. I apologise in advance. Love ya's xx
Fontaine doesn't know exactly who smiling Finn is. She's never met him, but the look on her parents face implies they sure had. It wasn't fun trying to get out of his way tonight. He's smart, that she can tell very quickly, and she is lucky she's got her parents onside because things would've been messy without them.
The strange thing is that what fills her mind in regards to the boy is not their escape, nor their efforts to evade the dark orca the following day outside the underwater volcano. Instead, his smirk is playing on repeat in her mind. Like some kind of broken record, it just won't stop, no matter how hard she tries to rationalise what she's thinking.
It's keeping her distracted and she's loosing against Jess on their game, but she can't bring herself to care, at least, not enough to do something about it. She's got a million questions about him in her mind, even though she knows she shouldn't care at all. Because the only thing she really knows about him is he's a pirate. And that alone should send her running.
He's the enemy.
Still, he's all she can think about for the rest of the day, even outranking the fact that they survived literal lava explosions. She's obsessed. And he hasn't even said more than 5 words directly to her face.
Finn thinks Fontaine is very pretty. He regrets thinking that, because he knows exactly how his dad would react, and for all the times they say you can decide things for yourself, the world forgets that as a teenager, the best you can hope for is that your parents will let you do what you enjoy. Not his dad, which is why he's gotta play some idiot pirate tonight in front of the most beautiful girl he's ever seen in his life. Why he's gotta try and kidnap her (as if that would actually work, she had a solution the whole damn time) and why he's gotta try and kill 4 people with his dad because his dad is obsessed with treasure. Death by lava, try explaining that to the ocean authorities.
The funny thing was that despite those situations, the last thing Fontaine had offered him was a smile. He catches her eyes as they float away, and nothing like hatred, disgust or......well, anything to do with that rests in her facial expression. Instead, the faintest look of curiosity adorns her features, and she smiles softly before his crew pulls them away.
It's filling his mind. Usually he can pretend to care just a little for his father but now he can't even be bothered, and it shows. Maddy won't leave him alone, desperate to know what's making her brother act like a weirdo, but he ignores her in favour of doing the little research he can on the oldest Nekton girl.
