Smut. Don't like, don't read.

Half a year had passed since Zelda's failed assassination attempt and Hyrule had all but returned to normal. When the army had shown up right after Ganon took a bullet to the brain, all of Ganon's soldiers were incarcerated for treason and the embassadors had been rescued.

As for the President herself, Zelda felt like an immense weight had been lifted from her shoulders. For the first time in years, Zelda felt light hearted and free. Hyrule was once again at peace, Link was back by her side and she felt more free than ever.

After shooting Ganon, the army had burst in, killing the assassins quickly before they dispersed into the Palace to route out the others. Zelda paid them no attention as she crawled over to Link, propped him up in her lap and cradled him whilst he tried to catch his breath again.

When he finally calmed, Zelda smiled down at him, tears of joy filling her eyes as she knew they were now safe. Cupping his cheeks in her hands, she had leaned down and kissed him.

Now months later, Zelda knew it was the best decision of her life.

Zelda had often lamented that in her persuit of academic achievement, she hadn't lived much of a childhood or lived through her teenage years like most people at that age.

But Zelda found herself living that life now as she had what could only have been described as a schoolgirl crush on Link. It was as if she was no longer the professional President and was just an ordinary woman, finding love.

Before, Zelda had always been unsuccessful at relationships in her rigorously professional field of work, but now she found herself enjoying the distraction.

There was something so scandalous and racing about stealing kisses from Link whenever the curtains closed. It was like Zelda had finally learnt how to break the rules, even if they were her own rules in the first place.

All of her previous 'relationships' had fallen through because she couldn't fit them around a schedule and it was always being put in the press, but this was different. Everyone knew that Link was her head of security so the press was just used to him being there so nothing seemed out of the ordinary. They didn't need to know what happened behind closed doors.

Most of the times, it was the press which leaked her relationships. Journalists and reporters were always so annoying and nosy. All it takes is one picture and a rumour and it's out. That's why many of Zelda's partners couldn't cope, the publicity was always annoying.

That being said, none of Zelda's staff ever leaked anything to the press. Inside her Palace, Zelda knew she could trust her staff. They had been in her employ for years and they respected her too much to degrade her and leak thing to the newspapers.

So when Link and Zelda were caught kissing by one of the maids in the Palace, they were thankful that their secret remainded a secret.

Over the last few months, Zelda and Link learnt that none of the staff would betray her and so their relationship didn't have to be entirely secret. In fact, many of the people who worked at the Palace were just glad to see Zelda so happy for once, they didn't want to ruin that.

When Link had woken up at the hospital, we was surprised to see Zelda sat by his bed, holding his hand and smiling down at him. He remembered the kiss she had given him but he had obviously been under sedation for the journey to the hospital.

He had also learnt that he had been there for three days and that she had never once left his side. She had been constantly asked to issue a statement to the press about the attack on the Palace but she had insisted she  would be the first face Link saw when he woke up.
