The Next Day ~
"Yahaba-kun!" I call out to the light brown-haired boy. He turns around to look at me, his eyebrows raised in interest. I trot up to him, catching my breath for a moment before speaking. "I'd like to be manager for the volleyball team! A friend convinced me it would be a good idea," I shrug my shoulders, rubbing one arm with the opposite hand sheepishly.
"That's great! You should come to our practice this afternoon!" Yahaba says excitedly. "Okay," I say with a genuine smile. "I'm glad you're excited! The rest of the team will be as well," Yahaba tells me with confidence. "Okie," I grin, thinking about what went on earlier this morning. "I'll see you in class then," he waves, going further down the hall. I wave silently back, heading to our homeroom class.
Earlier this morning ~
I waited patiently at our meeting point, keeping my eye out for the dual-hair colored boy. There's a sudden 'boo!' and a pair of hands on my shoulders from behind me, and shivers trickle around my body. "Haha! Surprised ya!" Nishinoya pumps his fist in the air, claiming his one-up on me. "Don't do that! What if I walked into the road out of fright!?" I say with irritation in my voice. I don't like being scared, nor do I like scaring others.
"Sorry, I just thought it was kind of funny," he apologizes and I sigh. "It's alright," I wave my hand nonchalantly, putting his error behind me. "I picked a place for us to hang out!" Nishinoya informs me, looking overly joyous. "And where did ya decide we should go?" I ask him with a smile. "There's this great maid cafe just a couple miles from here. I thought we might enjoy it," he says. I look at him in disbelief. He seriously wants to have other girls treat him like that while technically going on a date with me?
"I think I'll skip then," I sigh, beginning to teasingly start walking away. "Wait no! Please don't!" he reaches out to grab my arm, pulling me back towards him. I trip on my own feet, and fall into him. Thankfully he's able to hold me up just long enough for me stand up straight. "S-sorry!" he tells me, lifting his hands off of my biceps. I blush from the contact; I've never really known the touch of somebody who's interested in me. "It's fine," I mumble with a gentle blush on my face.
"My second option was the zoo then," Nishinoya tells me with a humble tone to his voice. "That sounds like a better choice," I tell him, feeling content with his back up plan. "Alright! It's a date then!" he shouts with vigor, and stars in his eyes. "We should get to school now. I'll text ya later," I advise. "Okay, if we have to," he sighs. I chuckle at his exaggerated movements as he begins to walk away from me to get to his school. "Bye Noya-kun!" I wave as I walk away. He waves back at me, beginning to jog in his needed direction.
Present ~
I smile to myself as I sit in my seat towards the back of the class. This school year has proven to be interesting and entertaining so far. I'm excited for what the rest of the year will bring to me. As long as I don't lose Noya, then I know I'll be happy. My heart just flutters at the thought of him, and I have to tell myself to calm down. He's still practically a stranger, even if he is handsome and endearing. And to think he picked me over any other girl he could have seen in his life. It doesn't fail to put a feeling of being special in my heart. I can only hope he feels the same.
