A/N: thank you for waiting!

Y/N's POV
My alarm rings its tune and I smack my hand over my phone. Ittetsu groans beside me, snaking his arm around my waist. "Don't go," he whines with his gravelly morning voice. "I have to go to my interview, I'll be back later," I tell him softly. I kiss his forehead gently before slipping out of his grasp. He mumbles a good bye and I start to get ready.
Since I had graduated, Ittetsu and I immediately hit it off with a relationship. We both showed an obvious infatuation with each other; but school was the barrier. And social views along with school regulations made it difficult to interact in an overly friendly way.
Thankfully I received no more trouble from the bullies in my class. I was scott-free living my dream life with the man I loved. I get ready with a giddy excitement and pep in my step. I have an interview at a company branch located in the heart of Karumai, and I'm excited.
I just recently finished a two year degree in the study of human psychology and behavior. Ittetsu had encouraged me to post a job application online and they just so happened to reach out to me. My heart thundered when I received the email asking when a good time for an interview would be.
"I'll be home in a couple hours," I whisper to Ittetsu while ruffling his hair. "Good luck," he groans back. With my goodbye done my feet carry me to my car in the parking lot. The drive flows smoothly while the radio hums an upbeat tune.
I park close to the entrance of the building, flattening my dress pants and blouse as I step out of my vehicle. I press the key fob twice and my car beeps while I walk in. "Welcome in, how may I help you?" the woman at the front desk asks. "I'm here for an interview. My name is L/N Y/N," I walk up to her and remain behind the counter.
Her acrylic nails clack as she presses the old-fashioned keys of her keyboard. "Yes I see here your appointment is in ten minutes why don't you have a seat and the manager will be right down to see you," she says with her practices smile. "Thank you," I say to her, bowing the smallest of bits before taking my seat close to the door.
I open my phone to review my résumé and hum as everything looks correct. I always stress that things are imperfect, and it tends to cause more anxiety than necessary. "L/N-san, we're ready to interview you now," a woman calls out my name. I flatten my outfit again before looking up to meet Ishida's eyes.
My brain flips on the caution switch and I keep my distance from her. It had been years but she still put me on edge. "Our branch manager will interview you. We'll contact you in a few days to tell you if you're hired or not," she says with a clipped voice. She still seems irritated by what happened in high school. I can hear it in her tone.
I've already decided that I don't want to work here. I will not put up with somebody who bullied me. But I have to follow through with my appointment and not make it obvious I still hate her. "I hope it . . . goes well," she makes it obvious in her tone that she's still salty about what happened. I nod and enter the room. The interview seems to fog by as my mind spirals.
When I reach the front door of the apartment, I slump over, supporting my shaking body against the wall. I don't know what happened exactly, but after my interview the entire atmosphere of the building seemed to have changed. All the employees were giving me nasty looks, avoiding my gaze, and whispering once I walked past them.
When I got back to the main lobby, Ishida was waiting at the front counter. I went to leave but she stopped me by grabbing my arm harshly, and whispering in my ear, "Don't come back if you know what's good for you." I've never left an establishment so fast in my life.
"Welcome back N/N," Ittetsu welcomes me. I glomp onto him, burying my face in his chest. "Heyyy, what happened?" he asks me, wrapping his arms around my shoulders. I wait a beat before speaking. "Ishida was there. She was mean. I'm not gonna work there; I won't put up with her," I mumble.
"Oh, I'm sorry N/N. That must've been scary. I'm glad you're not going to work there though," he tells me sweetly. I nod, trying to get impossibly closer to him. "Want to cuddle and watch a baking show?" he suggests. "Yeah," I smile. He knows just how to cheer me up.
We gather some snacks from the cupboard, and retreat to the couch. Ittetsu opens Webflix and turns on the excellent British baking show. I curl up next to my boyfriend, tossing a blanket across us while we get comfy. I'm happy that I have him in my life, and that the oppression I got didn't prevent our happiness.
"I love you," he says before kissing my forehead. "I love you Ittetsu," I say back, proceeding to kiss him. We smile at each other before returning our attention to the show. Our love is no sheet of paper that can be torn apart, rather it's an impenetrable brick wall.
