Chapter 13: The End is Nigh

Nora's POV

September 5th, 2034

Verdant, Star City

"So let me get this straight. You want to take down a psychopathic lunatic who can run faster that sound and has the wealth to buyout countries, and there's only seven of us" Moira says
"Well then it looks like you guys could use some more help" Dante, Francine, Ruby and Dick walk in.
"We could use it that's for sure" Sean says "Let me count, we've got two speedsters, two former members of the league of assassins, three hackers, a stretchy guy, a breacher, and two people carrying actual weapons. Did I miss anyone" Sean says
"Well technically, we weren't part of the league of assassins" Dick says while pointing at Moira and himself.
"Where's Superman when you need him?" Sean complains
"Sean, we can do this. I know we can" I say "But first we need a name our team"
A few seconds past until William speaks up "Wait, hang on a second"
"Nobody was speaking" Ruby says. William looks at all of us a couple of time.
"Six and five. Damn, only if we had one more person" Everyone looked at William with confusion.
"I was going to suggest the name Titans but we would need another male"
"No, let's go with that, and if it's so important to have an even six and six, then we'll include August"
"Okay then, now that we got that out of the way, whose going to be the leader?" Sean asks
"Well I think that since it's Nora's plan and she brought us all together, it should be her" Dante says. A few moments pass "No objections, okay. Now what's the plan?"
"Simply, we find August, we find the Red Death" I say
"How are we supposed to to that? The planet's huge" Ruby exclaims
"Glad you asked. Francine, William, Ruby. I need you three to act as hawks, be my eyes and ears in the sky. Find everything and anything that can be useful. Morgan. You and I will start searching cities on the ground. Moira, Dick. I need you to use your contacts in the League of Assassins and find out if they have anything on the Red Death. Dante I need you to talk with your mother and see if she or the Collectors have anything. Josh, Sean, Zoey. You three have the most experience when dealing with the underground. Use those resources and find any information that can help."
"You heard her. Let's get to work!" Dante yells
"Morgan! We'll start here in Star City. I'll start here in the glades, you start downtown."
"Got it" Morgan replies. We start running and begin the search.

September 8th, 2034

It's been a few days of searching but Moira and Dick found a lead from the league of assassins.
"The league's last known location on Bruce was on the island of Lian Yu" Moira says
"Why is everything on Lian Yu?" William complains
"What's so important about Lian Yu?" I ask. William gets up walks across the room and turns on a switch. A case lifts from the ground and reveals a bow.
"Lian Yu, purgatory, is where everything started"
"Why was there just a bow sealed under the floor?" Ruby asks.
"This was my father's bow, well his first one. It was originally owned by Yao Fei, my father's mentor when he was stranded on Lian Yu. It has a complicated history but I came into possession of it and hid it here."
"And why are you now just telling us this?" Ruby asks.
"Well I have been picking up high levels of energy radiating off of it"
"What kinds of energy?" Dante asks
"Multiversal"
"Is that like nuclear?" Francine asks
"No. He's saying it's much, much worse" I say. Everyone takes a step back from the container.
"How could it be producing that type of energy? The multiverse is gone" Josh asks
"Hang on. Can someone fill me in? What's a multiverse?" Sean asks
"We need to get out of here before that thing kills us" Francine says
"Okay everyone! Enough!" I yell "Is it harmful?"
"Luckily, no it isn't harmful to us. You and Morgan on the other hand" William informs us.
"Why Morgan and me?" I ask
"You're speedsters. If shot by an arrow from this bow it would kill you no matter where it hits you"
A few moments pass by before I realize something "You plan using the bow to kill the Red Death"
"I'm glad you caught on. If we use the bow we can rid the world of the Red Death but we would also lose your father"
"If it comes down to it, we'll use the bow. But until then I want another option but we have to go. We need to stop him now"
"How are we supposed to get to the other side of the planet?" Ruby asks
"Considering William's mother owns a multi-billion dollar company, I think he can think of something"
"Fine, let's go talk with my mother" William removes the bow from the case and places it within a containment unit and we all walk out of verdant.
"What have you done?" Mia says. Her and the rest of the Young Justice arrive. It also looks like they've done some recruitment as well. On top of their original members, Thomas, Mia, Daren and Damien, they've also added Wally West also known as Kid Flash, Hux-El, son of Supergirl and Mon-El, and Jonathan Kent also known as superboy.
"Looks like you've done some recruiting Mia" I say
"Well since you, Dante, Dick and Josh took off we needed people to fill your spots" Mia says
"So you recruited two kryptonians and a speedster, overkill much sis" William says
"Will what are you doing here?" Mia says and she notices the containment unit "Is that what was given off the massive amount of unstable energy?"
"Yes it is. Now if you'll excuse us, we have to leave now" William replies
"You're not going anywhere with that. John said to secure it and return it back to the hall. Be a good brother and give it to me, please"
"I'm not giving it to you" Mia tries to reach for the containment unit but I speed in front of William.
"We're not giving it to you" I say
"Stay out of this Allen" She pushes past me and tries to grab it again. This time a speed around and grab her wrist.
"That's not happening Queen" Before I know it she's already flipped me over and throws me onto the ground.
"Final warning. Give it to us or I take it by force" I speed back up and punch her which sends her flying back a few feet. She gets back up and faces me.
"I've been waiting for this" She starts running at me. She swings a couple of hits at me but I dodge them and then shoves her back a few more feet.
"Are you guys not going to do anything?" She yells
"Crap. William, Francine, Ruby. Get to cover. Sean, Dick deal with your brothers. Dante deal with Hux. Zoey, Moira, deal with Thomas. Morgan I need you take down you father, try and talk him down." William, Francine and Ruby all run for cover.
"What about you?" Moira asks
"I'll deal with Mia" I get back up and start walking towards Mia. "Mia, our goals are the same as yours. We can defeat the Red Death together."
"Ha, work with you. Not after your last stunt" She comes in to punch me but I dodge it and shove her to the ground.
"You're letting your emotions cloud your judgment" I say. She stands back up and faces me.
"Maybe I am. But you took everything from me" Shocked I asked "How did I take anything from you?"
"Oh please" She scoffed "You took the Young Justice from me, you took my brother from me, and now you're taking the only thing remaining of my father"
"You know it's his bow?"
"Of course I know it's his bow, I'm not an idiot. But none of that matters anymore. I'm going to take you down and I'm gonna get my dad's bow" She comes charging at me and we start to fight. I was surprised that she was able to land a few punches, even when I was using me speed, but a few minutes into the fight someone else arrived.
"Okay, that's enough!" This cloaked individual yelled. We all just stopped fighting and just look at them.
"Who the hell are you?" Mia asks
"Such a pretentious attitude Ms. Queen" She says. Mia throws one of her knives at her but she grabs it just before it impales her.
"Who are you?" I ask
"Well..." She removes her hood revealing her face "I'm you Nora, well sort of"
"Explain"
"Eighteen years ago, my brother and I travelled back in time pursuing a speedster named Cobalt Blue, who turned out to be Zoom possessing Eddie Thawne. We were able to separate them and I killed Zoom"
"You killed him?" I ask
"I had too. It was the only way to ensure Dad's survival but I guess I should have stuck around and ensured his safety"
"So if you're here, where's my future self?" Thomas asks
"Gone" She replies
"I'm dead?"
"No not exactly. Unfortunately, Zoom's death left a sort of gap in the speed force that needed to be filled, he sacrificed himself to save us all but all this talking and fighting is a waste of time, and time is not on our side. The Red Death is building up an army and we need to defeat him before he grows too strong"
"Mia, we need to put our differences aside, for the time being, and we need to stop this monster"
"Agreed, I'll alert the League of this and we head in as one"

A few hours later

Hall of Justice, Central City

"Here the plan. Frost, Vibe, Black Canary and Elongated Man along with the Titans will assault from the southern side of the island. Your main objective is to locate Godspeed and Roy Harper, who are suspected to be held prisoners by the Red Death, and returned them to the extraction point." John explains "Superman, Supergirl, Valor, and the Martian Manhunter will locate and engage the Red Death. Keep him busy until we have extracted Godspeed and defeated the majority of his army. The rest of us along with ARGUS will assault their army on the North-East part of the Island."

Lian Yu, South China Sea

"From Superman and Supergirl's recon, they found a lead containment deep underground but they weren't able to see who is inside of it" Cisco says.
"But it's most likely where they're keeping August and Roy, right?" I ask
"Most likely. It's a few miles into the island and we do not know what to expect. So for the time being, no powers."
"Well how far in is this containment unit?" I ask
"A little bit over a kilometer" Cisco says. We start walking and arrive fifteen minutes later.
"Well, we're here. Where's the entrance?" Moira asks
"Spread out and find it!" Dinah yells. We start searching the surrounding area but to no luck.
"Are you sure it's here?" Morgan asks
"This is the place" Cisco says "Black Canary, can you blow a hole into the cliff here?" Dinah uses her abilities and smashes a hole into the cliff. Luckily, Cisco's idea payed out.
"Lucky guess" We enter the base and start our search. It didn't take us long to find a fork in our path.
"We should split up. Easiest way cover ground" Dinah suggests.
"Agreed. Ralph, Zoey, Moira, Josh, Sean, you're with me" Cisco says. The rest of us start searching our path until we come across a holding cell. There must have been dozens of cells all empty except for one.
Mom gets on the comms "Guys we found something, or rather someone"
"Roy? Is that you?" Dinah asks
"Dinah? What are you doing here?"
"We're rescuing you" Dinah uses her powers to knock down the door.
"Where did they take August?" I ask
"They took him about an hour ago but I don't know where. Best guess is further into the compound but I'm not going with you" He says
Dinah confused asks "Why not? Don't tell me you're still blaming yourself for what happened"
"Dinah, I nearly killed Thea. This is my punishment"
Suddenly the rest of the team catches up to us.
"We need to move now. There's too many of them" Moira says.
A few moments pass before Roy speaks up "Moira?"
"Dad?" She drops her bow and runs up and hugs him.
"Look. I don't what to interrupt any family reunions but they're coming, and there's a lot of them" Ralph says. Roy walks out of the cell, picks up Moira's bow and hands it too her.
"I'll hold them off to buy you some time" Roy says
"Not going to happen Roy" Dinah rolls up her sleeve revealing a mark "This might not mean anything to you anymore but it means everything to me, so whether or not you like it, we're not letting you sacrifice yourself"
After a few seconds Mom walks over to me "Nora, take the Titans and find August and get him out of here" Suddenly, an explosion goes off destroying the door that we came from.
"They're here!" Cisco yells.
"Run Nora, Run!" Mom says.
"No, we can help. We're not going to leave you"
"I'm sorry" She slams her hand on a button on the wall, shutting a door between our team and them.
"No!" I tried phasing through the door however Mom had frozen the door. "Dammit!" I drop to me knees.
"What do we do now?" Morgan asks
"We keep moving. We need to find August and then we can get the hell out of here" Dante says. He walks over to me and puts his hand on my shoulder. "Nora, they'll be fine but we need to keep moving"
I stand back up and we start making our way down into the compound.

We wasted no time and search everywhere until we found him. August was hooked up to some machinery that was draining blood and speed force from him.
"Sean, can you take out those machines?" I ask
"With pleasure" He takes off and lands on top of the machine. He takes out his sword and start hacking at it until it's disabled, dropping August onto the ground. I run over to him and checked his pulse. Luckily, he was still alive.
"He's alive. We need to get him out of here" Dante opens a breach picks August up and we all enter the breach. When we exit, we arrived at the edge of Lian Yu and see Cisco, Ralph, Dinah, Roy, and Mom all injured.
"Mom!" I run over to her "What happened?"
"There we're too many of them, unfortunately Ralph took too many hits"
"What are you saying?"
"I'm saying you need to get Josh over too him now, before it's too late" I stand up and look around for Josh and already see him standing over his father.
"Dad? Dad!" He yells
"I am so sorry Josh"
Josh stand straight up and looks me straight in the eyes "Let's go find this guy and ends this"
"Dante! Open a breach to the Red Death" I yell. He opens one and we all enter it and then enter the battle.
