Y/N POV

The light flurries of November snow fell outside of the school. November is the first month it usually snows here in Tulsa.

My pencil tapped against the desk quietly as the teachers soft voice echoed in the classroom. I like this class, it's not the hardest and my teacher is low and patient with her students.

Students shuffle around in their bags seeing theres about 3 minutes left of class.

My head is leaning on my arm and I draw circles on the desk with the eraser of my pencil. Small pen marks are on my hands from drawing on myself in the boring classes.

After the classes are dismissed, I take my coat from off my waist and slide it over my black sweater. I walk out of the classroom after everyone else to try and avoids the crowd of kids trying to leave.

I see Cherry Valance with her small group of close friends. Her boyfriend, Bob, is trailing behind her with another group of guys. They're all Socs, the rich and snobby teens who can get away with anything they want. They're either loved or hated by people, no in between.

Cherry and I aren't the closest, but we've talked a few times. Shes in a different grade and more popular than I am. She's one of the prettiest girls I've ever seen. Her hair is always done and its a shiny red color, hence her nickname. Shes 16. She always has a skirt and some sweater on. All the Socs dress in dumb pants and shirts.

The Socs and Greasers always are up against each other. I know the Greasers more. One of the most dreamy boys I've ever seen is a Greaser.

Ponyboy Curtis is in the same grade as me. I see him in the halls a lot. He has waved to me a few times. I'm not sure why, we never really have had a full conversation.

His nose is always in a book, and hes always at the theaters. I've seen his older brother Sodapop at the DX station before. He was there when I bought my first pack of cigarettes.

His hair is a hard blonde, always greased up perfectly. He dyed it sometime before school. He's built well at his size and he does track after school sometimes.

I feel like I don't know him enough to call crushes yet. Crushes are stupid anyway.

My backpack is slumped over my right shoulder and I walk through some of the buses in the front. I put a cigarette into my mouth and breathe it in as I start walking to the bookstore.

PONYBOY POV

Today was a long day at school. I was going to go right home, maybe see Johnny but I wanted to stop somewhere first.

I wanted to go to my favorite bookstore around. I was looking for a new one because I finished the one I had. I probably could've taken Two-Bit and he would've stolen one for me. That's what he's good for.

I didn't smoke in the bathrooms today either. I took one out as soon I was off the school zone or else someone would probably see. Darry told me if I smoked more than a pack a day, I'd be skinned.

The snow is very softly blanketing over the roads and grass, but everything's still visible outside. I'm walking on the right side of the road when I look over.

Y/N's walking in the same direction I am. I figure she's probably just walking home today. I could walk over to that side of the road if I wanted to talk to her.

Who am I kidding, I do want to talk to her.

I always see her in school. I try and say hi to her whenever I can. I don't really think she expects it. I've never had a conversation with her.
