The Deepest Mind

Shen Wei and Yezun hurriedly drove to the hospital and saw his parents, Mr. Zhao and Da Qing waiting outside the operating room.

"Ah Lan!!!" Shen Wei cried out trying to go inside the operating room to see Yunlan, but Yezun and his parents held onto him tightly.

"Calm down Wei! Calm down! He's in good hands now!" His dad hugged him tightly, consoling his crying son.

"It's all my fault!" Da Qing lets out a sob against the wall and kept on blaming himself. Mr. Zhao went over and patted his back. "Don't blame yourself! Be strong for Yunlan."

The doctor finally came out after long hours of doing operation on Yunlan because the bullet had hit quite close to his heart.

"How is he doctor?!" Xin Ci asked while everyone also came in closer to listen.

"He's out of danger now, but still need monitoring until he wakes up! Then we can assess him from there!" The doctor informed as everyone lets out a sigh of relief.

The nurses then wheeled Yunlan into the recovery room as Shen Wei and the rest immediately followed behind.

A week passed and Yunlan's wound had started healing, but still there was no signs of Yunlan gaining consciousness. Even the doctors are confused and does not have an explanation for it, so all they could do for now is wait and run some more tests on him.

Yunlan fluttered his eyes opened, and found himself in a dark room. He tried to move his body but couldn't, as if he was paralyzed. He tried to adjust his eyes to the darkness and swore that he saw a dark shadow moving within the room. He tried not to panic, so he closed his eyes again to think about what had happened earlier. He remembered fighting with a gunman and getting shot in the chest. So he must be in the hospital he concluded, and started yelling out to the doctors and nurses.

"HELLO!!! Is anybody there? HELLO!!" Yunlan called out loudly several times.

He had enough and was beginning to get frustrated from being ignored. "I said turn on the light damn it!" Yunlan yelled out angrily.

Just like a voice activated sensor light, the room started to lit up. To his surprised, there were many picture frames of his Xiao Wei floating up in the room. He smiled seeing his beloved face, but started to realized that something was off and he was not at the hospital.

His eyes scanned around the room as he tried to force his body to move, and again he saw a dark shadow in the corner of the room. He immediately closed his eyes again and told himself that what he just saw was just an illusion.

Zhao Yunlan is not a fan of horror and does not want to faint like the first time his saw his ghost boy.

He took a deep breath and slowly opened his eyes. His breath hitched upon seeing a dark shadow without a real face closing up on him. He could only make out the eyes, nose and mouth. And now the shadow is just an inch away from his face and began to hover closely over him.

"Don't be scare, I won't hurt you!" The dark shadow spoke while running it's finger up and down his face. By the sound of it's voice, Yunlan could tell that the dark shadow must be a female.

"I missed you and waited for so long. Now you are finally here with me!" The dark shadow giggled, leaning it's head on Yunlan's chest.

"Who are you? And what do you want from me?" Yunlan calmly questioned, as he tried to think of ways to escape from the place.

"Have you forgotten about me already?" The shadow tapped it's finger on Yunlan's nose. "And as to what I want..I never wanted anything beside you my Prince!" The dark shadow exclaimed as it finally stood up.

Suddenly becoming angry. "But you!! All you see is that wretched Shen Wei, even in your deepest mind!" The dark shadow voiced loudly while fiercely breaking down all the frames containing Shen Wei's pictures. But it was no use, no matter how many frames were destroyed, it would always pieced itself back to the original form.

"My deepest mind?" Yunlan continued to dig out information that may help him.

"Yes! We are in your deepest mind. That pearl kept me from taking over your body! So all I could do is to trap you here with me for eternity! No one could break us apart now, not even that wretched Shen Wei!" The dark shadow cackled loudly and again coming back to lean on Yunlan's chest.

"But we will wait not for long! Soon I will get a physical body and we can be together!" As it continued to laugh while caressing Yunlan's face.

"What do you mean...." Yunlan wanted to know but suddenly his whole body started to shook abruptly.

Shen Wei came everyday to the hospital to look after Yunlan, he himself also started looking very thin. His parents wanted to take turn but Shen Wei refused saying that Yunlan would want to see him first thing when he wakes up.

"Gege! I will grab us some food. I will be back soon! Okay!?" Yezun tapped on Shen Wei's shoulder to notify him because Shen Wei didn't respond back. Yezun gave out a sigh and left the room.

"Ah Lan! Wake up sleepy head. You said you would take care of me, so why am I taking care of you instead?" Shen Wei cried out as he picked up Yunlan's hand and placed on his cheek.

Suddenly the electricity and the heart monitor started to flicker spontaneously and Shen Wei's amber necklace started to flash along with the flicking. Yunlan's body had also started to twitch in response as if it was communicating with each other.

"Ah Lan! Ah Lan!" Shen Wei panicked and leaned over closer towards Yunlan's face which caused his necklace to accidentally come in contact with Yunlan's body. At that moment, a circuit of energy started to surge through Shen Wei's body and he could instantly feel that his soul is being sucked out from his body. Just like an empty shell, Shen Wei's lifeless body then fell right on top of Yunlan's body.

Moments later, Mr. Shen came inside the room followed by Yezun, carrying some food in both hands.

"Wei, we brought some food! Come eat a bit!" His dad called, but as they looked towards the bed, they were both shocked seeing the position of Shen Wei's body on top of Yunlan. And thought that Shen Wei was taking advantage of the unconscious Yunlan.

"WEI!!!" Mr. Shen yelled while rubbing his nape in disbelief that Shen Wei is still ignoring him.

"Go..go get your Gege off Yunlan before the others come and see this!" Mr. Shen gestured Yezun to quickly go, as he continued rubbing his nape.

Yezun went and shook his brother several times, but there were no response. "GEGE!" Yezun then looked closely at Shen Wei.

"DAD!!!!" Yezun screamed loudy which startled his dad. "Gege..something is wrong with Gege!"
