'No, there's nothing that I wouldn't do, to make you feel my love'
Five weeks. It had been five weeks since I had seen Lando.
My plan was to surprise him, I knew I wasn't going to make the start of the race due to the plane being delayed. All I could do now was pray that I wasn't going to be too late to see the end of the race.
Stepping off the plane, I was quick to turn off aeroplane mode. Searching on the internet, I was quick to look at the race details. From what I read, Lando was currently running in third. I couldn't help but smile at the thought of him doing so well, although there was still thirty laps left.
Getting through customs and grabbing my bag took a good twenty minutes, I was quick to run through the airport. As soon as I got outside I found a taxi, I didn't speak much Spanish but I managed to tell them where I was going.
The journey was long and drawn out. By the time I got to Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, I knew there was not long left. I ran to the security to the driver's entrance, panicking when I couldn't find my VIP pass when I got there.
"Please," I begged as I looked through my zip section again. "I'm supposed to see Lando, I'm supposed to surprise him!"
The security guard looked at me and shook his head. "No pass, no entry."
My eyes filled with tears as I frantically looked through my suitcase. I started to lose it as I opened my case properly and started moving all my clothes around. "Please!" I looked at the guard once again. "The race is almost over, please, I just need to see Lando."
"Miss," the man looked at me with a little bit of sadness in his eyes. "I can't let you in without a pass. I'm sorry."
I swear my heart rate was through the roof as I started to drag everything back into my case. My tears fell quickly as I realised it had all been for nothing. There would be no surprise, instead, I would have to ring Lando after his race and get him to help me out, something which was neither fun nor surprising.
Zipping my bag, I stood it back up before I ran my hands through my hair. I had no idea where my VIP pass was but I just felt like this was a disaster.
"Sophia!" I heard someone shout my name getting my attention.
I looked up tears in my ears, there in front of me, on the other side of the barriers was Nyck De Vries, a close friend of Lando's. "Omg, Nyck," I called out to him as I stepped forward only to have the guard put his hand out in front of me stopping me again.
Nyck walked over, a smile on his lips. "What's going?"
"She doesn't have a pass," the security guard spoke interrupting their conversation.
"It's okay," Nyck spoke with a smile as he flashed his ID. "She's with me," he assured the guard.
The guard looked at Nyck, he looked unconvinced before stepping aside and letting me through the barrier. "Thanks," I mumbled as I pulled my bag along with me as I entered the driver's area. I hugged Nyck as I smiled at him, "Thanks."
"Come on," he said as he put an arm around me and we started to walk towards the garage areas. "You're late, Sophia." He laughed as he took the handle from my suitcase from me and began to pull it along. "You're so late, you are going to miss the podium celebrations."
Shrugging my shoulders, I grinned widely. "I have an idea," I looked up at Nyck. "I just need to get rid of my stuff for a bit."
I arrived at the paddock knowing Lando would be doing interviews. All I needed to do now was wait.
Nyck had told me that Lando had finished in second. I knew he'd be buzzing.
Standing between two reporters, I waited patiently as I watched over drivers come out and talk. It wasn't long until I saw him, he was looking down, his usual thing before he glanced up. Our eyes met as he approached me, a grin coating his lips before he wrapped his arms around me. "What are you doing here?" He whispered as I wrapped my arms around his neck.
"I thought it would be exciting to surprise you," I grinned, my lips pressing a kiss against his cheek. "I've missed you."
Lando pulled back and looked at my face, pushing my hair from my eyes as he looked at me. "I missed you too," he said he held both my cheeks before he let go. "Second, babe. I came second!"
Reaching for him again, I placed a kiss on his lips. "I bet you were amazing," I could only imagine the race.
He leaned close to me, whispering so only he and I could hear, "I'll have to show you later." He pulled away before winking and walking towards a reporter on the other side of the paddock to give an interview leaving me to imagine what he meant.
