Chloe's hands shook as she pulled her phone from her pocket.
She hadn't warned Pierre she was going to come clean, she hoped that it was going to go better than this. She scrambled through her phone, pressing on his name listening to it ring before it went to his voicemail after ringing out. Her mind thought of the worst thoughts, she as good at that.
Ringing him again, she listened as it was the same as before. Her fingers fumbled to write a message to him, she struggled finding the words before simply writing Charles knows.
"Darling," her mother entered the room looking at her young daughter. "What's going on? Charles left in a hurry. Has something happened?"
Chloe looked at her, her mother could see her daughter's eyes were red and her skin was blotchy. "I have to go," the young blonde said as she stepped back from her mother. She should have told her every thing, should have leaned on her for support but she couldn't.
Her hands were shaking as she realised what was happening. Charles would destroy the relationship she'd built with Pierre, all the things they had shared would just be gone. Grabbing her keys, she hurried out the door, running to get into her car. All she had to do was drive to Pierre's, to get there before it was too late.
She slammed the door shut behind her as she got into the drivers seat, her hands shook as she pressed the button, starting her vehicle. Chloe barely registered her surroundings as she swung the car out of the home's driveway, getting a couple of horns blaring at her due to her recklessness. She didn't hear anything though, she just pulled away quickly, driving through the quiet streets.
There was a thought in her mind that if she drove fast enough, if she drove like Charles she might even make it there not too long after him. Her hands were sweaty as she steered the wheel, her eyes barely focusing on the little hazards around the car. Her tears were blurring her vision as she turned onto the motorway, she was barely slowed to merge with the traffic, instead she pulled out causing others to slam their brakes on.
Chloe felt the tears fall from her eyes as she gritted her teeth, holding in the sobs that were stuck in the back of her throat.
Chloe laid in Pierre's bed, looking into his eyes as they laid opposite each other enjoying the moment together. He reached across, his right hand gently pushing some hair back from her face and tucking it behind her ear. "I think we have to stop this before it goes too far," he said in a quiet voice.
The words he spoke didn't mimic his actions, especially when he ran his fingers down her body before finding her hand and holding it. "Oh really?" Chloe said in a whisper. She didn't know if he was joking with her or not, she also knew it was too late for her to stop it now.
"Really," Pierre whispered.
"Well, I think it's already gone too far," Chloe looked serious when she said it.
Pierre's eyes widened as he looked at the blonde in front of him. "You're not pregnant, are you?" He looked panicked as he asked the question, his hand stiff as he held hers.
"No," she laughed as she smiled widely. "Oh my God. Of course I'm not pregnant." She shifted herself closer to him, she watched as he smiled too, his thumb stroked the back of her hand as they looked into each other's eyes. Chloe gave him a small smile, "I love you."
He stared at her, the smile leaving his lips as he processed the words. He shook his head, "Chloe, you..." he trailed off as he looked at her. He pulled his hand back from her, he knew falling in love was much worst than her being pregnant. He knew that because he felt it too.
She felt stupid, why had she confessed this to him? She'd told him how she felt and he'd just fallen silent.
"Chloe," he said in a quiet voice. "I'm sorry," he spoke as he stared at her. She was so beautiful, he was surprised she was still fucking around with him. It had been 7 months since they first got together, a short 7 months which had been mental. "I'm sorry," he repeated as Chloe looked at him with a confused look on her face. "I love you too," he admitted in a sad sounding voice.
Confusion laced her face, why was he sad when they were admitting their love for each other. Should he be happy if he felt the same way?
Pierre brought his hands up and cupped her face, "I'm sorry because that means that at some point we have to come clean." He raised his eyebrows knowing how she felt about that, he felt the same way too. "We don't need to do it today though. We don't need to do anything until we are ready, I promise." He leaned forward and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. "You never have to do this alone."
Chloe thought about the exchange of words, the day she finally told him she loved him. Pierre had always been so easy to get along with, she thought she would have warned him about her telling Charles but her mind had been weighing so heavily with guilt recently. Knowing she was in love with Pierre and that he felt the same, made her want to cleanse her soul. She needed to tell Charles, the anxiety was eating her alive and she'd been losing sleep over it all.
Weaving through the lanes, Chloe put her foot on the accelerator, she needed to get there and sort this mess out. Her eyes darted around, checking the signs and the cars around her. She swerved over the lanes as she got to the exit she needed before coming over too quickly cutting a car up and earning some loud horns.
There was very few cars on the road, and it all seemed to be an easy ride to Pierre's home.
As she drove up, she saw Charles' car on the same side of the house. Chloe parked opposite, her mind on what awaited her behind the door. Opening her car door, she stepped out quickly.
Her eyes were on the house in front of her as she stepped forward, Chloe didn't hear the approaching car or the screeching of the brakes until the vehicle slammed into her side.
Chloe didn't scream, she couldn't do anything else but try to use her hands to cushion her blow but it all happened too quickly. Her body hit the hard ground, the tears continued to fall as the pain rippled through her body.
Her eyes focused up, she stared at the house. She wondered what was happening behind the door, she needed to get in there and talk, to see them both.
"I'm so sorry," she heard a voice. "Are you okay?" Chloe glanced at the man who was talking to her.
Chloe pointed to the house, "Please. I..." she said as she tried to push herself off the ground but failed, falling back to the ground.
The man got up crouching as he pulled out his phone. Chloe could hear him on the phone to the the emergency services. She needed both Charles and Pierre right now, she wanted them to both run out of the house and be with her.
Her eyes flickered to the man who was on the phone, he brought over a blanket to her as he tried to ask her questions but she only wanted to see a face of someone she loved. "The house," she managed to say as she pointed to Pierre's home again.
The man looked at the house before getting up, running to the house. She could only watch weakly as the man banged on the door. Her eyes watched but the sound around her disappeared. She could no longer hear the sounds around her, there was no birds, no humming, just silence. Her hand shook in front of her on the ground as she lifted it to her ear, she opened her mouth, she spoke but couldn't even hear that. Her mind was quiet, there was nothing.
She panicked as she watched the man trying to explain before she saw both Pierre and Charles push out of the door and sprint towards her. Chloe couldn't hear them, she could only watch them as they both fussed over her. Her eyes darted between them, she didn't know what they were saying, if they were arguing but she was glad they were both there in this moment, it brought her some comfort through all the pain.
