Chapter 39: Dragon Fight

GRAY'S P.O.V: 

We've been waiting for the others for so long. I hope Wendy and Gajeel were able to get there in time. I was staring at Zeref's back, he hasn't moved a muscle. What should we do? We can't just stand here. Before I could think anything else. Zeref chuckled, "It's done." 

"What's done? What did you do?" Sting walked closer. 

"Irene,  she's dead and Acnologia saw the whole thing." He explained. 

"WHAT?!" We all said in unison. 

He slowly turned to us and gave us a smirk, his eyes. They were bloodshot red. "She's dead and Acnologia is in rage now. He's going to want revenge on the man who killed his precious mate." 

"Were you planning this the whole time? Were you going to kill Irene anyway?" Rogue asked. 

Zeref's smug look faded a little. "No, that was not the plan. We were going to kill Acnologia together. We both hated him and wanted revenge for what he did to us. But then she decided to forgive her husband and betray me. So I had to adjust my plans." He shrugged his shoulders like it was no big deal that he just had one of his lackeys killed. 

"They're on their way. I would get ready if you." 

"Get ready for what?" Laxus asked with a glare. 

"For the fight of course. this going to be the biggest battle that Fairy tail has probably ever faced." 

And it probably is. 

LUCY'S P.O.V: 

I was running through the woods with Loke by my side and the E.N.D book in my hands. We could hear the fighting in the distance. I'm not even sure what to do at this point. Do I go help my other guildmates or go find Natsu? 

"Lucy!!!" 

"Happy!"

Happy was flying toward us, tears filling his eyes. He crashed into my chest, sobbing. 

"Happy?! What's wrong? What happened?" 

"It's Natsu, he killed Erza's mother and-" 

"Erza's mother?" I cut him off. 

"Yes, she was Acnologia's mate. Erza's father. I watched everything from above. I didn't know what to do." 

I held him tightly in my arms and let him cry. 

"Lucy." Loke called my name, "Go find Natsu and the others. Help them. I'll go help our guildmates. Happy do you know the way to where others are?" 

"A-aye." He stuttered. 

"Good, show Lucy the way and help in any way you can." 

"Aye." 

"Wait, Loke-" 

"It's going to be okay Lucy. I'll use my own magic so I can stay here and you won't have to use any more of your energy on keeping me here." 

"But, Loke-" He cut me off again. 

"We don't have time to talk Lucy. I help everyone here. You go help bring Natsu back."

I nodded and we ran in different directions. 

"Let's go Happy!" 

"Aye, sir!" 

Just wait for us Natsu, we're coming. 

NATSU'S P.O.V. 

Well, this doesn't look too good. We were fighting with everything we got and so far we haven't made a scratch on him.
