Chapter Twenty-Nine: Several Hundred Years Later

IRENE'S P.O.V:

It's been four hundred years since I've been in this dragon form and somehow I am still pregnant. This is all Acnologia's fault. I guess he really didn't love or care for me since he never found me. I can't believe I ever loved that man and I still do. It must be the mate bond if only there was a way for me to get rid of it. "Well hello, Irene." I looked over to see a man with ball hair and pale skin. "How do you know my name?" I roared. He laughed, "Of course I know. Who wouldn't know the dragon queen? And Acnologia's mate." I glared at him, "DO NOT CALL ME THAT MONSTER'S MATE!" I yelled. He seemed shocked at my outburst. "You do not love him?" "No! I hate him! He ruined my life! I want nothing more than his head on a silver platter." I snarled. The boy smiled at the answer. "Well, it seems like we both have a common interest." Huh? "I too, want Acnologia dead and gone. How about you help me?" He asked. "I could. But, if you can turn me back into my human form, so I can give birth to my baby. Then we have ourselves have a deal." He looked like he was thinking it over. "Deal." He raised his hand and a cloud of black smoke was surrounding me.

Before I knew it, I was back in my human form. My stomach was huge I could feel my baby's powerful kicks. Yes, his or her kicks her painful but it made me happy to finally be human again. I couldn't help but cry tears pure of happiness. "By the way my name is Zeref." I looked at the boy. This is the dark wizard Zeref? But he looks so young, at least in his early twenties. "Now let us be off." "Wait! Let me give birth to my baby and take him or her somewhere it can't get hurt. I don't want it to have this life. I want it to grow and have a happy life. With a good family, have friends. Please grant me that wish." I begged. "I understand, I too have a child. If only he wasn't in this life too. I'll let you give birth but, as soon as you do. I need you to come back so you can train your magic." "Of course."

After my talk with Zeref, I found the nearest village. Rosemary village, two days after staying there. I gave birth to a healthy, baby girl. She looks just like me, I named her Erza. "Hello, little one." She started to cry, "Aw, don't cry little rose. Mama is going to take good care of you." Wait, I have to leave. I have to leave her behind. I made a deal with Zeref, I can't break that promise with him. Who knows what he would to me or my daughter. What have I done? I just agreed to abandon my child right after I give birth to her. What kind of mother am I? A mother who abandons her child so easily. Without even realizing she will miss her first words, her first steps, her first birthday. Who will protect my precious rose? Who will love and care for her when I can't? Who will be there for her when her world is crashing down? I am a terrible mother. I don't deserve this little girl in my arms. Soon tears started to flow and land on my daughter's face. I held her closer to my chest, "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry my little princess." If only this world wasn't so cruel, we could've been together. If only I have never made that deal with Zeref. But she wouldn't be here in my arms right now. She would be in my womb still.

The next day I went to a church, I left her in a basket, by the doorstep with a letter. I looked down at Erza, she was asleep. I knocked on the door and hid from sight. A woman walked out and saw my baby girl, she took her in and that was the last time I saw my little rose. I cried for months, thinking if she was alright. If she had a family if she was healthy if she was happy without me. If only I knew.

ELEVEN YEARS LATER

"Lady Irene, I have news for you." I looked at one of my servants with a blank stare. "What is it? I am very busy." "Rosemary Village was attacked by followers of Zeref. Many children captured and taken away to an unknown destination." After hearing those words, I rushed out of the castle that Zeref has made. My little rose, please be safe.

After a day trip to Rosemary village, the place was a wreck. I ran to the church and busted the door down. A woman walked up to me, "May I help you, ma'am?" She asked me. "Erza! Is a little girl named Erza here?!" I yelled. Her eyes sadden and she looked like she was about to cry. "Are you Erza's mother?" "Yes I am, where is she?!" "I'm so sorry ma'am but, they took her. So along with the other children in the village. I told Erza to run away. But she stayed and helped some kids escape but, she couldn't save herself." My mind went blank, my heart felt like it stopped. My whole world was falling apart. The only reason why I left her there in the first place was so she can be safe. So she can live a normal, happy life. Before I knew it was running out of the village screaming Erza's name. "ERZA! ERZA! ERZA, PLEASE! PLEASE, COME BACK TO ME!"

I stayed out there until it was nightfall. My eyes were probably red and puffy by now since all I did was cry and scream on the top of my lungs for the whole day. I'm a sorry excuse for a mother. I let my daughter get captured. She's probably dead. The thought of that makes me sick. I went back to the village, my coach was waiting for me. I headed back to Zeref's kingdom. My whole body felt numb. I kept chanting, "I'm sorry Erza. I am so sorry. Please forgive me. Please forgive your Mama. I promise that I'll never forget you. My little princess. Mama loves you forever. Please be alive, I will find you one day my rose. Just wait for your Mama. Okay?"
