"You think mama go be mad if we show up high?" I asked DJ and he mugged me.
"You know damn well she go be mad because she don't even want us smoking. She'll choke us and yank our hair in front of everybody then punch us in the chest."
"Yeah she'll definitely smacked the fuck out of us too."
"Have our lip bleeding in the photos."
We both busted up laughing and pops came into the room.
"Y'all almost ready?"
"The real question is, are the girls almost ready?"
"Hell naw." He chuckled and sighed leaning against the wall.
"What's wrong Pops?" DJ asked.
"I'll deny it if anybody asks but shit fucks with me seeing all y'all becoming adults. I just want the best for y'all and to be safe always. We got a lot of enemies. We black men. Police after us. Other niggas after us and sometimes we can't even trust females. But I won't deny how smart y'all are I just want y'all to always be careful. Y'all my first born sons. I want the Brewster name carried. I ain't trynna bury none of my kids or see them behind bars."
I don't know what possessed me but I just hugged him. I'm grateful I got my dad in my life. He ain't the easiest nigga to get along with but all of our knowledge comes from him. And he'll die behind us.
"I love y'all."
"We love you too Pops." Me and DJ said.
He fixed us up and talked shit about how we can never do shit.
"Why the fuck you got all this jewelry on Loyal?"
"You know the vibes." I said fixing my chains.
He mugged the fuck out of me and I laughed.
"Let me go find y'all ma-" The door swung open before he was even able to finish the sentence and our mama walked straight in.
"Oh My God." She covered her mouth. "Look at y'all." She started crying.
"Giggles."
"Mama don't cry." I wiped her tears.
"Y'all just so handsome. All my kids growing up I can't stand it. House getting empty."
"I can always stay here..."
"Fuck no." Dad cut me off making me laugh.
"Let's get y'all downstairs." My mama said and we followed behind her.
"Even with heels on mama short." I snickered and I heard Dad laugh with DJ."
"Y'all forever coming for my height. I like my size you fucking giant's."
