"What?" I asked, looking up at him shocked.

"Never mind, come on, I'll take you home," he muttered as he pulled away. I reached for his hand to stop him.

He turned back to face me, his face void of emotion. I stepped closer and put my hand up to the side of his face. I stood on my tippy toes and pulled his head down, my lips meeting his.

The kiss was gentle and slow. His arms slowly came up and wrapped around my waist, pulling me closer against him.

My phone started ringing from the other room and I pulled away with a sigh.

"Don't answer it," Greyson mumbled against my lips.

"I have to, it could be important," I whispered back before stepping away and walking over to where my phone was on the nightstand.

I read the name on the caller ID and it was my dad.

"Hello?" I asked warily.

"Hi sweetie, you need to come home, we need to make arrangements for your brother's funeral," my dad's shaky voice said. My shoulders slumped and my head dropped.

"I know dad, I'll try to book a flight in the next few days," I muttered. Greyson's arms wrapped around me and I heard him sigh.

"Your mom had to be put in a coma, she's stable but they don't know when she'll wake up," my dad blurted out. I froze and let out a deep sigh.

"I'm sure she'll be ok, she has to be," I said, my voice cracking at the end of my sentence. Greyson's head fell to my shoulder and he left a couple light kisses on my neck, he rubbed my arms lightly. "Have they found the shooter yet?"

"No, the police are looking but they haven't found any leads," my dad reluctantly answered.

"I figured," I muttered, "ok dad I have to go but I'll let you know about getting back out there."

"Ok sweetie, I love you," he said.

"Love you too dad," I replied before ending the call. I sighed and turned to face Greyson. His eyes were soft and he had a slight frown on his face.

"It'll get better, Amore," he whispered. I wanted to believe him but it just hurts. Instead of arguing I just nodded my head slowly.

Greyson took me home where I was greeted with a bone crushing hug from Emma and a soft, sad smile for Selena.

The next couple of days went by slowly. I barely slept and when I did all I could do was imagine how terrified my brother must have been.

I got my ticket back to the U.S and I haven't heard much from Greyson. The only thing I got was a text saying he'd had to go stateside to take care of some business.

Maybe I'll see him there. I seriously doubt it though.

Anyway, Emma insisted on coming with me and our flight leaves in 20 minutes.

"Hey, how are you feeling?" She asked hesitantly as we took our seats on the plane. I shrugged and looked out the window.

"I'm burying my baby brother in two days," I muttered, "I feel horrible." She didn't respond after that, just laid her hand on my arm and rubbed it.

I woke up to Emma gently shaking me. That's weird, I don't even remember falling asleep.

"Hey, we're going to land soon." She said as I turned to her. I groggily nodded and the captain came onto the speaker.

"Ladies and gentlemen, we're starting our descent into Fresno, local time is 1:45 p.m." he stated. The seatbelt sign blinked on and soon we were on the ground.
