Laila's strawberry garden was not sufficient. Julius and Peter's jokes were not sufficient. Cooking whatever she liked was not sufficient enough to keep the princess tucked away in Sheath. She had decided to come to Moore and figure out what exactly was going on. She needed answers.
Laila's heart is pounding as she realizes she has failed the assignment the king gave her. At this point, she feels nothing for Stephan, as Saya has spent time unknowingly teaching her about her self-worth. The man sees her as an object. He called her a whore, and threw away the jewelry she made for him. The anger from that is what pushes her through. The only thing that bothers her now is the kind of punishment she'll receive as the weeks apart from him have given her something to live for.
It was jaw-dropping that the guards had refused to let them in until King Stephan came out and demanded they did. It was beyond comprehensible when they all stood in the throne room, only to see King Xerxes was well and healthy. Why had he not come to get his wife? Stephan's words, "I am afraid you won't like what you're going to see," made everyone anxious, but he was fine!
"I told you not to come back here Saya," Xerxes says, venom lacing his tone.
He was not fine.
Laila, Peter, Julius, and Nabir stand there, just as confused as the princess.
Saya shakes her head in confusion. Laila furrows her eyebrows, the king would never say that.
"My love you promised to come back for -"
"Refrain from using such words towards me immediately!" Xerxes says in a harsh tone, startling her.
"Brother calm down!" Stephan says, walking past Laila to stand in front of Saya, glaring at his brother.
What had happened?
"Ah! So the rat came back even after the king had told her to stay away," a voice says from behind.
Laila closes her eyes, as she hears that voice, she's at it again. The woman cringes as Oma stands by Xerxes giving him a kiss on the cheek. The sane King of Moore would never let her set foot in the kingdom, talkless of putting her lips on his skin!
Unless...the woman gasps...The Witch of the West.
"It's good to meet you again Saya!" Oma says
"What is going on?" Saya asks Stephan, her heart pounding, her breathing getting uneven. "Princess I wish I knew. When I arrived at Moore, I saw her as well. Xerxes is the same, but the only thing that seems to have changed is...his love for you."
This was why he kept telling them the war was not over. She knew it made no sense that it would take that long to fight a war against the Resistance.
Saya walks past Stephan coming closer to Xerxes who is just glaring at her. The guards prevent her from taking any step further.
As the princess tries to jog the king's memory, Laila's eyes never leave Oma's. The two of them seem to be fighting themselves as none of them choose to break eye contact.
She attempts to take a step towards her, when Nabir suddenly grabs her hand, shaking her head.
Her mind goes back to the scene before her when she watches Xerxes walk out of the room.
"What did you do to him?!" Saya raises her voice at Oma who just laughs, walking out of the throne room with Xerxes.
As Peter, Nabir, and Julius rush to the princess's side, Laila walks out of the throne room, and grabs Oma, dragging her to the nearest staircase.
Oma slaps her hand off hers, "What is it, Lady Laila?"
"You have gone too far"The woman laughs, "Please, just because you almost died by my hands doesn't mean you have the right to grab me anyhow you like! Get out of my way or I will make sure you're not breathing this time!"
