ATLAS COMICS - Times Square, New York City- 2013

You'd think that because I live in Queens and my office is in Times Square that I would have a hell of a commute. And you would be right. But I actually don't mind the commute very much because I never have to worry about being late to work. Sure I get up way too late for me to be able to make it on time but when you happen to have superpowers that allow you to reverse time back as far as you need, being late to things is never a concern. Which is why I was able to get a full eight hours of sleep despite having gone to bed at three in the morning and able to arrive at work well rested by nine.

I'm still stuffing my portfolio into my bag when I stride into the lobby of my building. Atlas Comics, the comic book publisher that I work as an illustrator for, is on the eighteenth floor. I simultaneously shove a muffin into my mouth as I adjust the bag on my other shoulder. As I approach the elevator, I suddenly hear my name being called and I turn to greet the voice.

"Amy!" It's Feige, my supervisor and boss, running late as usual. He hurries up to me, two Starbucks in hand which he hands to me as he pulls up next to me, reaching for my wrist to check my watch. "Oh boy, if anyone asks, the line at Starbucks was astronomically long." He tells me with a wince.

"Not a bad cover story considering the line is always long. What's the real story though Feige?" Feige has a first name but everybody in the office has called him Feige for as long as I've been working there so I don't really know him as anything else. Plus at this point, I've sort of forgotten what his first name is anyway.

"If you must know, I was camping outside of Avengers Tower to try and catch a glimpse of Thor coming into work." Feige tells me, proudly puffing out his chest.

"I don't think they commute to work like regular Joe's Feige." I tell him, reaching into my bag to pull out an extra muffin for him which he takes eagerly.

"And how would you know that?" Feige asks me as the elevator dings and we step inside along with a group of strangers also heading into work. "Have you seen them coming in and out of there?"

"I think you know the answer to that is no and I just don't think superheroes need to commute to work at least, not by the regular means. They probably like, fly or whatever." I dismiss Feige's delusions of grandeur with a wave of my hand. Needless to say, a massive superhero nerd like him is absolutely perfect for this line of work.

"You're just envious because I happened to be right there when the battle happened." Feige bumps my shoulder playfully.

"Yes Feige, I'm green with jealousy." I tease, lifting the refresher he picked up for me to my lips, catching the straw in my mouth.

It's funny that Feige brags about being in the middle of the action because I was in the action, making the action. What Feige and the rest of my coworkers don't know is that I fought alongside the Avengers during the battle of New York as an Avenger. You see, because of my affinity with time, I managed to get noticed by a man named Nick Fury who was putting together a team of superheroes to defend the Earth from otherworldly predators. It all started when Thor Odinson, the god of thunder, crash landed on Earth from his home realm of Asgard. Ever since then, Earth has seen an onslaught of intergalactic threats, including Thor's own brother Loki. The threats have forced Fury and the governments of the world to develop a super team who could take care of these bad guys much faster and more easily than a regular army.
