ASGARD - The Nine Realms - 2013

When I wake up the next morning, I'm in such horrendous pain that I can hardly see, much less move. Beside me, Thor is still fast asleep though at some point during the night, he'd let go of my body. I let out a soft whimper, just loud enough for Thor to hear it and jolt awake next to me, turning over to find me staring blankly at the ceiling, stars at the edges of my vision.

"Amy? Are you alright? Is it your leg?" Thor asks me, rising from the bed, causing the mattress to inflate beneath me again with the absence of his weight.

I somehow manage to nod at him, clenching my teeth together in a futile attempt to keep from screaming. Nausea suddenly overtakes me the moment Thor tears the blankets aside and we get a good look at the situation. My leg is almost entirely blue now, glowing like a neon sign, pulsing as though it's alive, breathing inside of me. I'm forced to avert my eyes out of fear that I may become ill at the sight. Fortunately, Thor doesn't seem to be too disturbed because he scoops me up into his arms and begins to hurry out of the room, presumably to get me back to the medical wing of the castle. Stars dance at the edges of my vision, making it hard to tell where exactly he's taking me.

"WE NEED HELP!" Thor calls from above me, the vibration from his chest humming against my cheek as it rests against the space above his heart.

In my delirium, I gaze up at the god of thunder, observing every detail about his face from this angle. Delirious, I reach up with a shaking hand and poke him in the nose playfully. "Boop!"

The gesture prompts Thor to look back down at me, eyebrows knitting together in concern and confusion. I give a breathy chuckle, clearly losing it as I wrap my arms around his shoulders and plant a kiss on the side of his jaw, barely missing his cheek. "Amy, we have to get you help." Thor tells me in an attempt to get me to stay focused.

The world jolts back into motion as several nurses and other Asgardian servants lead Thor and I back to the medical ward, all the while peppering Thor with questions about my condition and when all of this came to a head. Dizzy with pain, I tilt my head back, enchanted but the way the world looks from upside down. As Thor places me on the table I was lying on before, I reach a hand up to grab at something, only to come up empty handed. But I could've sworn Iron Man was flying above me? Where did he go? I feel a hand brushing the hair out of my face, head rolling to the side to see the most beautiful man I've ever laid eyes on, staring down at me, hand resting on my forehead.

"I'm so sorry about all of this Amy," Thor. The man is Thor. It's Thor. "On my honor, I will do whatever it takes to get you better once more. I will not stop until we find a way to cure you of this affliction."

"Loki knows," I slur, my words melting together as black dots appear at the edges of my vision. "He....he uh....worked or was Chitauri or...or something...I'mnotsosure..."

I catch a glimpse of Thor as his eyes light up in realization, moments before I black out from the excruciating pain.

When I finally came to, my whole body was shaking and ice cold. I feel a lot less delirious than before but still exhausted as I register that I'm still in the hospital room on Asgard. I take a moment to appreciate the silence just before a goofy looking face pops into my line of sight above me. Thor grins down at me, his eyes glowing with relief. "Amy! How are you feeling?"
