Blood means nothing

others have it worse

Tae was unlacing her converse after another amazing day with Raven, but she heard glass shatter. Even though she was sure it was her dad she still went to check.

She walked in the kitchen to find her dad just standing there trying to process he dropped the bottle.

"Taelyn. Where have you been?" He suddenly asked her.

"At my friends house, she dropped me here."

"What."

"I said at my friends house?"

"Yeh yeh I know that but she dropped you here. Why the fuck would you let her do that. You know my rules."

"It's..It's just that it's dark outside and she wouldn't let me go home on my own."

"You know my fucking rules and you go and disrespect me like that. How dare you. I'm providing a roof over your head. Why should I your an ungrateful idiot."

"Would you rather me get raped or worse killed."

"That's better than anyone finding out how much of a nuisance you are. Don't you dare ever, ever again do that."

"Do you seriously not care about me?"
Tae's dad hesitated for a moment at this question.

"If you were put into foster care it would be ten times fucking worse than this so shut up and get on with it. Other people have it worse. Your so ungrateful."

"Other people can have worse but it still doesn't mean that you abusing me every week is not bad." Tae was loosing it and had started raising her voice.

"ABUSING YOU. ARE YOU DELUDED? Taelyn you don't listen!! I have to be harsh on you. All you do is rebel. Especially since you met that friend of yours." He then pointed at the door, with his furrowed eyebrows raised and fierce brown eyes.

"That has nothing to do with this. She actually cares about me not like you or mom."

"YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. TAELYN DONT YOU SEE IT, RIGHT THERE. SO FUCKING DISRESPECTFUL. YOU UNGRATEFUL BITCH." He was now screaming at Tae worse than he had heard before.

"I..I didn't even do anything you would rather me get killed than let one of my friends come within 6ft of the house!!" Tae felt her eyes water up but ignored it pushing the tears back.

"THATS IT. YOU AREN'T TO BE FRIENDS WITH THIS GIRL. IF YOU IGNORE ME I WILL KILL HER. I MEAN IT." Tae had never seen him so angry. And her heart felt broken.

"DAD THATS NOT FAIR. SHES MY FRIEND AND SHE LIKES ME FOR WHO I AM!"

"YOU MEAN A BITCH. I MEAN IT TAELYN YOU BETTER STOP BEING FRIENDS WITH HER. OR SO HELP ME GOD YOUR LIFE, HER LIFE AND YOUR MOTHERS LIFE WILL BECOME HELL."

"LEAVE MOM OUT OF THIS. DAD I CANT DO THAT, I CANT JUST STOP BEING FRIENDS WITH HER. I LOVE HER."
And within seconds Tae felt a hard slap go across her face. She was gripping her cheek with her cold hand and just looked up at her dad.

He had lowered his voice and was pointing at her. "You know the fucking consequences if you don't, but here's to give you a taste of it."

He then grabbed her by the ear and dragged her into the living room and slammed her against the wall. He punched her in the stomach multiple times and just kept pushing her into the wall. But Tae didn't expect what he did next, she didn't expect her father to put his hands round her throat and squeeze, trying to cut of her airway.

She could feel her life flashing before her eyes and all she could think about was Raven. She felt herself about to pass out when her airway opened up again and she gasped for air. She really thought that was it. Her misery and pain was going to end. Death felt better than having to endure this anymore.
