just a bad day

Tae had already felt so bad about blowing up on Raven. I mean maybe she could be friends with her secretly? Or atleast apologise to her, Tae knew she could be such a dick sometimes.

She yawned while staring at the board, zoning out on what Mrs Devour was saying. Maths was so boring and all she wanted was for that clock to hit 2 so she could make up with Raven and go to lunch.

The guys behind her wouldn't stop laughing loudly and although it drowned out Mrs Devour it meant she couldn't drift off and the teacher kept looking her way. Every so often they'd kick her chair as she dozed off.

But to her luck the bell had rung and she jumped up to Raven's desk where she was.

"Hey."

"Hey." Raven then continued packing her things.

"Look I'm sorry for being a dick the other week, I was..was just having a bad day." Tae twirled her hair like she does when she's nervous.

"Yeh well you seem to always be having a bad day." Raven had now stood up looking like she wanted to leave.

"I'm really really sorry, you don't have to be friends with me but I just wanted to apologise." Tae then turned around to leave but felt a hand stop her.

"Wait no, it's..it's fine honestly. I want to be your um..well your friend."

"Really?"

"I mean yeh your alright." Raven then nudged her a little.

"Hm, well you wanna hang as it's lunch?"

"Oh cant got a detention."

"Seriously Raven Pilok got a detention?"

"Yeh I forgot about some homework for English. Gotta run, another time?"

"Yeh sure." And Tae was left there feeling a bit humiliated.

Raven looked around behind the bleachers until she felt a pair of hands cover her eyes.

"Guess who?" Jack's hands were toasty warm on her face.

Raven giggled, "I don't know you tell me?" And then she turned around to face him.

"Glad you made it again, I ditched my friends for you."

"Oh well same." Raven felt a big lump of guilt sit in her stomach, she lied again to Tae. Yesterday when Tae had the guts to apologise and after saying yes today she still made an excuse.

I mean sure Tae had been a bit of a dick but she still liked her. But she just wanted other friends and Jack was nice, it's just, well Tae doesn't like him and she didn't want to hurt Tae. So lying felt like the best option.

"Come on let's sit and eat." Jack had broken her trail of thought.

"Course!" Raven took of her heavy bag and plonked down next to Jack, using her bag as a back rest. But soon enough she felt Jack put an arm round her. She didn't really mind though.

Jack pulled out a large bag of flaming hot cheetos.
"You want?" He asked her.

Raven loved cheetos, especially flaming hot ones so she couldn't resist.
"Oo yes please these are my favourite." She then threw one in her mouth, and then another and another.

Tae felt bad today. Jillian was rambling on about some boy and Veronica looked way to invested. Hannah just kept passing comments about Veronica to Danielle and they both would just randomly laugh at one which irritated Veronica.

Raven blew her off as she got another detention which was strange again. Guess the girl isn't herself right now Tae thought. She got up and dumped her tray with the others, and set of outside to clear her head.

She stuck one earbud in her ear and she walked out into the warm breeze. Her usual spot behind the sheds were always taken on Mondays so she didn't bother going there.

She carefully climbed round to behind the bleachers to only see Jack. She quickly pulled herself back to see who he was with and instantly recognised the girl. Raven. Tae stared for awhile and then quickly turned away before she saw her, but it was to late, Raven had seen her.

She could hear Raven calling her name but she just ignored her. But it was to bad, Raven was fast and had caught up with her.

"Tae, hey are you ok?" Tae felt a rush of anger come over her. She whipped around to face Raven.

"Am I ok? You blew me off for what? To hang out with Jack?"

"I..I didn't know how to tell you so..so-"

"So you lied!" Tae shouted at her.

"I'm sorry, I..I should of told you."

"YES YOU SHOULD OFF. And Raven he's a waste of time!"

"Well that's your opinion I can make a judgment for myself, I don't need advice from you!"

"What do you mean from me?"

"All you do is get in bad moods and treat me-"

"treat you like what?"

"LIKE COMPLETE SHIT."

"I told you I'm sorry about that It was just a bad day."

" No Tae it wasn't just a bad day."

"What do you mean it was you cant read my thoughts."

"No I cant but you..you." Raven knew what she was about to say to Tae and how bad it was but she still let it slip right off her tongue. "YOU PRETEND LIKE YOUR PARENTS ARENT FUCKING ABUSING YOU. I MEAN ITS SO OBVIOUS IVE SEEN YOUR BRUISES. AND YOU WONT ACCEPT HELP FROM ME. I GIVE YOU SO MUCH AND YOU GIVE NOTHING BACK."

"I-..I." Tae was speechless she couldn't believe what was coming out Raven's mouth.
"ATLEAST I DONT SELF HARM. YOUR LIFE IS SO PERFECT. PERFECT FAMILY, BIG HOUSE, LOTS OF MONEY, YOU DONT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS AND YOU ACT LIKE YOU DO. YOUR SO SELF CENTRED."

Now Raven felt betrayed. Jack had come over and people were staring at them.

"Taelyn dont talk to me, don't even fucking look at me I swear. You, you are something." Raven pointed at her.

"Is everything okay over here?" Jack asked.

"It's fine let's go." Raven turned away and walked away with Jack.

Taelyn felt battered. She felt numb and stiff. She had already regretted what she said and she didn't even have proof Raven self harmed. Atleast Raven had proof she was being abused. She ran into the school, into the toilets and locked the stall.

She sat on the toilet seat and felt her face screw up. She put her hand over her mouth to keep her sobs silent. The bell went for next period but she didn't care. She sat there crying her eyes out wishing her life wasn't like this.

Raven sat down next to Jack with them both in an awkward silence.

"What was that about?" He finally asked.

"Oh nothing um Tae was just being dramatic about something."

"Are you sure that seemed quite..heated."

"No." Raven felt a hard rock in the back of her neck and she knew she was going to cry. She didn't want to let herself cry but she felt an arm bring her in for a hug.

She couldn't resist now her tears came flooding down, as she buried her head in Jack's shoulder.

What a mess she thought. She couldn't believe what had just happened.

Tae shut the front door quietly and sprinted up to her bedroom, closing the door behind her. She got straight in her covers and closed her eyes. But all she could think about was Raven.

No no. No thinking about her. You don't need her. She looked at the pillow next to her after opening her eyes and grabbed it. She turned on all fours and buried her face into and with all her might, screamed into the pillow. She screamed until he lungs hurt, until her throat felt soar.

Much better. Thank god her dad was out the house.
