~Ohm's POV~

"Ryan, Veronica..." Mom states as she folds her hands together and looks to the both of us while Veronica does not give one shit. Next to me she's sitting back and holding a dark look in her eyes that make it clear she doesn't want to be here. While she's clearly showing her rebellion I put on the fake politeness like always though in the inside I really feel like acting like Veronica is right now. Mom eyes her strangely clearly disapproving of her attitude while Veronica's mother is also glaring at her and seems as if she's ready to slap her in the face as if that will make her classy. Despite her obvious disapproval of Veronica she smiles blissfully towards me as if I'm some sort of angel from heaven here to cure her daughter.

"I think it's time... to plan your marriage," mom announces and holds her hands together excitedly with such a joyful look while both Veronica and I freeze, even my good boy act freezes up and I frown. Both of them notice the immediate shift in our behavior and quickly Veronica's mother steps forward, holding her hands on the table and looks to me almost desperately.

"I understand arranged marriages aren't very favorable but you two get along so well and you can always fall in love in the process. They do say friends make the best lovers," she explains quickly in a rush directly meeting eyes with me. I hesitate and glance over to Veronica who seems ready to leave the room at any moment. I'm honestly surprised she isn't saying anything against her mother when she's usually so carefree about being improper in front of her mother. Whatever's keeping her from talking must be something big, and it honestly worried me that something might have happened either with her mother or with Travis. And I desperately hope that she stays with Travis because they're honestly the only normal couple I've seen in a long time and an excellent pairing as well. Both of the mothers are looking to me in specific while I just stare at them for a while before sighing and turning away, feeling a bit guilty for having no really feelings for Veronica besides friendship.

"I'm sorry. I have no intentions of marrying Veronica," I announce and they both sit their with wide eyes, shocked I dare defy my own mom along with dad who isn't even here. Immediately they both begin speaking at the same time and pause when they realize they're overlapping one another. Mom looks at me with a troubled look while I just stare back with a challenging expression. At this challenge she seems shocked and even offended as all older political women always continually become before she opens her mouth in shock and holds her hands to her chest.

"Ryan baby, you're joking? You seem so fond of Veronica," mom gasps with such a fake shock and offense that I just sigh and feel the urge to just roll my eyes at her. If I rolled my eyes at her she would kill me later behind closed doors for disrespecting my mother in front of others. Instead I look towards Veronica who seems to dislike the idea of marriage but refuses to speak up for some reason, staying awfully silent when it would be nice if she spoke as well. What approach is she taking in her attack? Whatever it is, I'm not sure if it's the safest and I'm afraid what the outcome would be considering how reckless she typically becomes with her plans to defy her parents, as seen on her failed secret dates.

"Of course, she is a good friend. One of the reasons we are so fond of each other is due to the fact both of us are being put into a reluctant marriage by our mothers," I explain and now both of them gasp as if I just attacked them when I simply answered a question. Mom looks around frantically before finally turning to me and raises to her feet, laying her palms flat on the table.

"It's another woman. You are having an affair!" Mom declares and immediately I shake my head but from the fierce look in her eyes she's already completely made up her mind. "You must have met s young lady at that base of yours and fell in love with some sort of mongrel who thinks she can steal you from Veronica! I will not allow any such woman to be with my son I require some well off grandchildren and I have ensured Veronica is the one who can provide them. Forget about this disgusting woman and look at the woman right beside you, open your eyes!" I stay silent, my opinion on mom slowly degrading with the more she speaks and my anger boiling up inside me with the longer I feel attacked. My silence seems to only irritate mom further as she slams down the binder she had been holding and opens it up to some random page absolutely covered in beautiful white dresses decorating the entire page along several white flowers.
