Day 16:

Zane's PoV:

I feel my eyes glaze over as I flip through the pages of one of Lucinda's books. I lightly shake my head, trying to stay focused on the words in front of me. My lack of knowledge on magicks feels more glaringly obvious than ever; every paragraph felt like another puzzle making me more confused than before. I close my eyes as my mind wanders, slowly shifting to thoughts of Nana.

Her radiant smile fills my mind's eye as I imagine her sweet cotton candy perfume filling my nostrils. The rough, worn feeling of the old leather book fades from my fingertips as it's replaced with the silky texture of Nana's bubblegum pink hair.

"Zane-Kun," I hear Nana's soothing voice as I feel a hand on my shoulder. I groan before opening my tired eyes and see her looking at me with a small angelic smile.

I smile softly as I look into her deep golden eyes. I lazily move my hand to my shoulder and interlace our fingers. "Hey."

Nana's cheeks turn bright rosy pink as she looks around nervously. "What are you doing Zane-Kun?"

I pull my mask down before gently pressing my lips against my girlfriend's soft skin.

"ZANE! What the heck are you doing?" Nana shouts. I glance back at her realizing she isn't my girlfriend.

I nearly jump out of my skin as I pull away from her. I stumble out of my chair and fall on the floor. I hastily pull up my mask trying to desperately hide my rapidly reddening features.

"I'm sorry, Kawaii~Chan. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry," I splutter, unable to meet her gaze.

"Erm... It's alright Zane-Kun," Kawaii~Chan mutters, shuffling her feet. "Did you need something?"

"Huh... umm... no," I mutter, slowly lifting my gaze to look at her. "Why do you ask?"

Kawaii~Chan looks away and starts playing with a strand of her hair. "Zane-Kun was saying Kawaii~Chan's real name while he was asleep."

"Oh... sorry," I grimace before the two of us fall into an awkward silence.

I hesitantly get off of the ground and sit at the table. I grab Lucinda's book and quickly open it to a random page, trying to avoid looking at Kawaii~Chan.

"Have you learned anything yet, Zane-Kun?" Kawaii~Chan asks.

"Hmm?" I hum, keeping my eyes glued to the page.

"Have you found a way to get home yet?" Kawaii~Chan elaborates.

I sigh before closing the book. "No, I've read through almost all of the books Lucinda gave me, but I can't understand anything."

"Oh, what's the problem?" Kawaii~Chan asks, sitting down.

I glance at her. "I barely know anything about magicks. I can't understand any of this."

Kawaii~Chan giggles, "Sorry Zane-Kun, Kawaii~Chan just thought that you knew a lot about magicks."

I raise an eyebrow as I look at her out of the corner of my eye. "Why did you think that?"

Kawaii~Chan cringes and shrugs. "Kawaii~Chan supposes it's because her Zane-Kun knows a lot about magicks."

"I'm not the same as him," I growl as I turn to face her.

Kawaii~Chan's eyes lower as she frowns, "Sorry Zane, I forgot that was a touchy subject."

I feel my eyes widen as I quickly grab her hands. "No, I'm sorry Kawaii~Chan. I know you didn't mean anything by it."
