Day 38: (Mystreet)

Lucinda's PoV:

I grimace as my vision swam. I feel my wrists fall asleep from the heavy book. I blink a few times, trying to stop the words from blurring together.

The presence of other realms and alternative dimensions is widely accepted among magicks users. However, the possibility of travel between the realms is mainly dismissed as impractical. The process of opening a rift between realms would take an exceptional group of Magicks Users or a relic that had such power; unfortunately, all relics like this are lost–

I slam the book shut; making Kim yelp while I let out an annoyed grunt.

"Lucinda, are you okay?" Kim asks nervously.

"Fine," I snort, giving her a half-hearted thumbs up.

Kim frowns at me, shifting her weight in her chair. "Maybe... maybe we should take a break."

"Agreed," Emmalyn says, picking up Kim's Phone and checking the time. "How about we go get lunch?"

"I'm not hungry," I grumble, ignoring the roar from my stomach at the mention of food.

"You sure?" Emmalyn says, cocking an eyebrow at me.

"Believe me, I'm fine," I sigh, fidgeting with the book I was reading

Kim opens her mouth before Emmalyn takes over her body. "She'll be fine Kim, I think she just needs a moment alone."

"Mngh– okay," Kim mumbles before turning to the door. "We're going to McRonalds."

"Have fun," I mutter, barely registering what she said.

Kim gives me one last look before leaving my study. I let out a sigh, still mindlessly fiddling with the book. Letting the paper skim across my thumb, not bothering to look at the pages I flip through.

"Lucinda," Uwu says telepathically. "You need to rest."

"I'm fine," I reply numbly.

"No, you're not," Uwu squeaks firmly, narrowing his glowing red eyes.

"Believe me, I'm alright," I insist, giving him a hallow smile.

Uwu scowls, as much as a spider can, before disappearing and reappearing a second later with a mirror. "I'm your familiar; I'm tied to your emotions and health. Just look at yourself, Lucinda."

I grimace at my reflection. My eyes are bloodshot, and my hair is matted and knotted. My eyes droop while I wonder when was the last time I put on makeup. I painfully straighten my posture, feeling most of the kinks in my back and shoulders pop and loosen up.

"Point taken," I sigh, looking away from the mirror and rubbing the bags under my eyes.

"Perfect," Uwuw squeaks, making the mirror disappear. "Now, I suggest you go get something to eat and take a nap."

"I can't," I shake my head. "I need to find Zane."

"Lucinda!" Uwu shouts. "You can't find Zane if you're half dead. You need a break. You need rest!"

"No, not when It's my fault," I lament, setting the book down and standing up.

"Come now," Uwu pouts.

I ignore him as I walk over to where Zane disappeared. I kneel down and run my fingers against the cool concrete floor. The magicks residue has nearly disappeared, but if I focus hard enough I can still feel the slight pressure of dimensional energy. I grimace thinking back to that night.
