Zane's POV:
I feel a little light-headed after crashing down to earth, but I slowly manage to regain my composure. I pull my phone out of my pocket hoping I could call Lucinda for help. Just my luck, no signal.
"Oh give me a break," I mutter. I sat there for a while trying to figure out what my next move should be. After a bit, I realize I'm not going to get anywhere by just sitting here. I might as well look around, and maybe I'll find some help.
5 minutes later
"Maybe, I should have waited, Lucinda could have probably found me," I mutter. Even though it's only been a few minutes my patience is already running thin. I'm about to give up and go back to the arch when something catches my eye.
"A road, that means someone has to be around here," I say to myself. I can't help but grin; it finally feels like I'm getting somewhere.
"STOP!" I hear a familiar voice shout.
"Huh-" I say just before I'm tackled to the ground.
"Ow, get off me," I shout, trying to untangle myself from the stranger's arms.
"Hahaha, I never thought that I would be the one to catch you High Priest Zane," the stranger exclaims.
I finally got a glimpse of the man's face, it's Dante. However, he looks older than when I last saw him.
"Dante, what in the name of Irene has gotten into you? Get off me!" I scream at him. I manage to slam my elbow into his nose, loosening his grip long enough for me to break free.
I start to run as fast as I can away from Dante. I look behind me and let out a yelp in surprise. For being a couch potato Dante sure is fast. He tackles me to the ground again. It's as if I never got away in the first place.
"Gah- Get off thirteen," I shout quickly realizing that I went back to my old habits. I take a few deep breaths to help calm down. I'm terrified to even think of me calling everyone numbers again. Just the thought of going back on all the speech therapy I had in the last year to recover from becoming a relic makes me scared.
"Try that again and I'll break all of your bones," Dante yells in my ear. A little bit of his blood gets on me, from where I hit him.
I'm not sure why Dante is doing this, but I can tell he's not bluffing. I just need to comply with him and maybe I'll be able to get out of this.
"Alright, I submit," I grumble. Dante ties my hands behind my back.
"Good, Aphmau and Lord Levin will decide your fate," Dante says. I find at least little comfort in that, Aph will be able to help me out of this mess.
After a few minutes, we reach a gate within a large wall. It looked very run down; like it hasn't been used in years. The rugged stone along with the vines growing on it makes it look extremely easy to climb. Countering the entire purpose of the wall.
"Kyle, let me in," Dante shouts.
The gate lets out a loud groan before slowly rising; as a teen with blond hair starts to approach us with a confused look.
"Dante, why are you back so quickly? Did you finish your perimeter check already? Who is this guy," the teen who I assume is Kyle asks.
"I had to cut my check a little short today Kyle. I found a much better prize," Dante replies. "Kyle I would like to introduce you to the high priest of O'khasis, Zane Ro'meave"
Kyle's confused expression suddenly darkens with anger as he turns to face me. Now I'm wondering why this random person pissed at me as well as Dante. Screw it I'm sick of being so confused.
"Okay, I'm going to address the elephant in the room; what did I do Dante," I ask. Dante laughs a bit at my statement.
"What haven't you done Zane to hurt the people of Phoenix Drop," Dante replies.
"Should I let the rest of the town know Dante?" Kyle asks.
"No, we should keep this on the down-low until Lady Aphmau returns. She knows the most about Zane; she'll know what to do with him," Dante says.
Dante along with Kyle lead me to a large stone building. Inside there are two cells and a white-haired woman wearing a black torn up dress inside. After examining her for a bit I realize it's Sasha, a member of the Shadow Knights.
"Hey, Sasha you got a new roommate," Dante says to Sasha as he pushes me into a cell.
I feel like all of the pieces are coming together. Of course, Gene is in on this he flat out hates me; I can't say that the feelings aren't mutual though. And Dante didn't like me ever since I came back from starlight dating Nana.
"You know when Aph finds out about this you aren't going to like what's going to happen," I say glaring at Dante.
"When Lady Aphmau finds out about this you're going to be executed Zane Ro'meave," Dante replies glaring right back at me.
