Day 16:

Aphmau's PoV:

I grunt as I pick up a crate full of supplies. I haul the large crate onto the ship before stretching my stiff shoulders. I glance up, mesmerized by the soft orange glow of twilight over the town. I sigh before hopping back onto the dock.

"We're making good time mom," I hear Malachi say.

I smile softly, "How much longer do you think it'll be until we're ready to set sail?"

Malachi grins, "We should only need one more day if we keep this pace."

"Great," I chirp.

Malachi grimaces before looking at the ship. "It might need to be a bit bigger."

"What's that?" I ask.

"Nevermind," Malachi says dismissively. "I know you want to get going as soon as you can."

I frown before shrugging the thought aside. "Aaron said he wanted to train with me tomorrow. See if I've improved at all."

Malachi gives me an understanding nod, "Alright, hopefully, we'll be finished before you are."

I gently run my fingers through my son's hair before my expression grows serious. "I'm sorry that Zane isn't coming with us."

"He was the one that chose to stay here," Malachi shrugs.

"I know but I'm a little worried," I mutter.

"About him or for him," Malachi smirks.

"A bit of both," I chuckle.

"Do you trust Zane?" Malachi asks, growing serious.

"Yeah, I do," I say, staring into Malachi's peppermint green eyes.

"That's enough for me," Malachi smiles. "Can't say the same about everyone else."

"That's what worries me," I sigh. "This could tear everyone apart."

"It might," Malachi says. "But we can't know that for sure. I trust your judgment."

I pull Malachi into a tight hug, "Thank you, Malachi."

"No problem," Malachi says as we release each other. "Besides, Zane hasn't been a problem since we let him out."

"APHMAU SENPAI!" I turn around and see Kawaii~Chan running toward us. I frown as she stops in front of us catching her breath.

"What's wrong Kawaii~Chan?" I ask.

"It's... Zane-Kun," Kawaii~Chan pants. "We... have a problem!"

"Me and my big mouth," Malachi sighs.

*5 min later*

"ZANE?" I call out as I step into my house. I wait for a response, but none comes. I frown before turning to look at Kawaii~Chan. "You sure Zane came this way?"

Kawaii~Chan nods, "Kawaii~Chan is positive, maybe Zane-Kun is in his room."

I shrug and walk downstairs as Kawaii~Chan follows me. I stop in front of Zane's room and gently knock on the door.

"Go away," I hear Zane growl from the other side of the door.

Kawaii~Chan reaches toward the door handle before I grab her shoulder. "Maybe I should talk to Zane alone."
Kawaii~Chan cocks her eyebrows, "Why do you say that, Aphmau Senpai?"

"Well you said that Zane got upset at your house so..." I falter. "He might not want to see you."

Kawaii~Chan lowers her ears before looking down and nodding. "Okay, Aphmau Senpai."

I grimace as I watch Kawaii~Chan dramatically walk upstairs. I take a deep breath before I hesitantly open Zane's door. I step into Zane's room and see him sprawled across his bed, in the dark.

Zane raises his head to look at me before dropping it back on his pillow with a defeated plop. "Go away."

"You could use some light in here," I say playfully.

Zane scowls, "I'm not in the mood."

I look at Zane sadly, "What's wrong Zane?"

"I don't want to talk about it," Zane grumbles.

"Zane," I sigh, sitting on the bed. "I trust you, Zane. I want to help you, but you need to trust me too."

Zane sits up; I blink when I see his face more closely. His eye is bloodshot and filled with a fierce mixture of anger and fear.

"It's a long story Six," Zane mutters.

"Six?" I say confused.

Zane lowers his eye as his hands ball up into fists. "I don't want to talk about it."

"Why did you call me Six?" I ask.

"It's complicated," Zane sighs. "And I hate thinking about it."

"Please, Zane," I plea.

"Just leave me alone, Six" Zane mutters.

I hesitate before standing up and walking towards the door. I look at Zane before leaving and gently closing the door behind me.

Thank you for over 3.6 thousand reads. I appreciate all the support and hope that all my work lives up to your expectations. Sorry for the short chapter, I'm not satisfied with it (especially when comparing it to the last) but I'm a little excited to move on to the next to keep working on this for any longer. The next chapter is going to be in Mystreet!

Thank you for leaving suggestions for future chapters. I'm definitely going to use them.

Remember: Constructive criticism is very appreciated.

Notice: I still would love to hear your ideas for small fluff, angst, etc. chapters. I might use them and give you a shoutout at the end of the chapter
