Aerith had been kept in the Forgotten City for the past 2 years by Kadaj, at the orders of an unknown entity. Aerith kept inquiring who this mysterious person was, but Kadaj never told her. Kadaj was ordered to keep Aerith alive for as long as he could, but when he took a hike up to the Northern Crater, that's when Vincent came and found Aerith. Now, Aerith was sound asleep in the Chocobo Stable in the Highwind, with Cloud just outside.
Aerith woke up slowly, and Cloud gently opened the door to the stable.
"Hey." Cloud said gently. "You awake?"
"nngh... Cloud? Where am I?" Aerith said, confused and drowsy.
"You're in the Highwind's Chocobo Stable. You've been sleeping since Vincent took you out of the Forgotten Capital." Cloud said. "He said that he found you chained to the wall, sleepy or drowsy or something."
"Oh... right." Aerith said. "Kadaj was keeping me there..."
"Who?" Cloud asked.
"Kadaj. A remnant of Sephiroth." Aerith said.
That last word stuck in Cloud's head for a bit. Sephiroth. Remnant of Sephiroth. He quickly shook off the idea.
"What do you mean, remnant of Sephiroth?" Cloud inquired.
"Uhh, a remnant of Sephiroth." Aerith said, confused. "I don't know how that's confusing, Cloud."
"Well, for starters, I killed Sephiroth." Cloud said.
"And?" Aerith asked.
"So he should be dead right now, right?" Cloud said.
"Yes." Aerith said.
"So he's dead." Cloud finished.
"No, he has remnants. Loz, Yazoo, and Kadaj." Aerith stated.
Cloud just sighed as Aerith stood up, holding onto the wall for support in case she were to fall. As Aerith was standing, she lost her balance and fell. Cloud ran over and dove for Aerith, hitting the ground as she landed on his back. They both just laughed.
