Reno and Rude parked by the Healen Lodge, and walked in. There, in the lodge, was Rufus Shinra. As it turns out, he had survived the attack from Diamond Weapon two years ago.
"Sir, we have returned." Reno said. "We found them."
"Good." Rufus cackled. "Where are they?"
"The new 7th Heaven bar in Midgar Edge." Rude said. "What are your orders, sir?"
"Hmm." Rufus hummed. "I will give orders... eventually. Keep watch on them."
Reno and Rude left for Midgar Edge. Rufus laughed. He sat there in silence, until there was a knock at the door.
"Come in." Rufus said. A familiar person came in. Kadaj.
"Hello, sir." Kadaj said, kneeling in front of Rufus. "How have you been these past few days?"
"Fine, fine." Rufus said. "Have you found Cloud and his friends?"
"Indeed sir, but I have terrible news." Kadaj said. "The Cetra has escaped. It was the vampire, Vincent."
"Hmm. I guess the past came back to bite us after all." Rufus said, concerned. "Just like what happened with... Jenova."
"Mother? Hmm. What do you mean by that?" Kadaj inquired.
"Oh? Don't you know?" Rufus asked. "The whole... Sephiroth thing... two years ago."
"Heh," Kadaj chuckled. "I had thought you'd forgotten about that."
"No," Rufus replied. "We've been trying to... repress it. There are many things I have repressed after the attack of Diamond Weapon two years ago."
"Well now." Kadaj said. "I guess you really do... have a short memory."
"No." Rufus said. "Not me. You see, it is my choice to forget."
