Nolan's POV
"Whatever. Let's go." Elliott said.
I grabbed Annalise's arm, and pulled her out the door. Elliott did the same to Sofia, but gentler. We got to the car and Sofia and Elliott went around to the passenger side, and I slammed Annalise against the side of the car. And then I slammed my lips into hers.
It instantly calmed me down. I pulled away and opened the door for her.
"Sorry," I said.
"Don't apologize. I know exactly how you feel." I didn't question this statement.
I sped out of the parking lot and into the street. I didn't have to worry about police officers, this was Elliott's car, with an Alpha license plate. All non-wolf officers knew it as an undercover vehicle, all wolf officers knew it as a pack alpha vehicle, and if it was speeding it was most likely on important pack business. In other words, in this car, you don't get pulled over.
"Why do you have such a small car?" I growled, everything was on my nerves. My hair brushed the ceiling, and Elliott was hunched over, he couldn't sit up because he was too tall.
"It's what my parents got me, okay?" He snapped back. We were both full of tension, and I could smell the fear in the back seat as we sped along and ran red lights. Portson was the biggest hospital around here, yet it was about 40 minutes away, if you followed the speed limit. We'd probably make it in 20.
"Nolan, please slow down. I'm really getting scared." Sofia said from the back. Elliott reached back and grabbed her hand. I could lightly hear her heart beating in her chest, but it was absolutely nothing, like the beating of a butterflies wings, compared to Annalise's. Her heart was pounding and I could smell the fear radiating off of her.
'I'm scared.' I mind-linked to Elliott. He glanced over at me. 'Me too. I think Lise is also,' he said, the last part with as much humor as he could muster for the situation. 'Ask her if she's okay?' I asked him. He nodded, understanding that I was to stressed to even speak. My voice would probably come out as a yell, which would most likely just freak out my perfect mate even more.
"Are you okay, Annalise? You seem a little on edge." He asked in a stressed yet calm voice, his hand still locked in Sofia's.
She shook her head slightly, I observed this and the fact that she looked about ready to puke from the rear view mirror. She reached her hand up and put it on my shoulder. I relaxed at the nice burning/tingling feeling that came from the spot where her hand was and spread to my whole body. My mouth unfroze.
"Sweetheart, you look bad. Do I really need to go slower? I just really need to get there quickly." I spoke as gently as I could, it still came out a little stressed, upset, and annoyed. I could hear and feel thoughts swirling around in her head, but I couldn't hear them. It was an odd sensation, probably having something to do with her not being human, but not wolf.
She just coughed in reply, sounding physically sick, like a bad cold. Sofia suddenly sucked in. Elliott did a small freakout, instantly shooting his gaze to his mate, putting his hand on her face and asking if she was okay or needed anything. He normally wouldn't do such a thing, but as we crept closer to the hospital him and I were both getting a little more shaky.
"I'm fine sweetheart. I just figured out why Lise is so freaked out." She paused her soft voice, and I took my eyes off of the road to stare at her, prompting her on, even as we slowly edged faster than the 28 miles per hour above the speed limit that we already were.
"Keep your eyes on the road!" She exclaimed. I did as she said, but turned my head a little to listen. "This is how her father," she paused again and I looked into the mirror, she was looking a Lise, who gave a nod, telling my best friends mate to continue the story. "Um, passed. Another driver, intoxicated, was speeding very fast and hit the drivers side of the car, Mr. Hopkins being the only one in the car, was the only person from the incident to die, and he did so almost exactly as the car hit. The drunk must've stumbled off or something, because he was never found. She's always been a little paranoid about alcohol and going above the speed limit. It literally makes her sick." She finished the mini-story.
