After Reese and Amie eat (the entire pizza), they migrate to Amie's room again and blast music so loud that her elderly, almost-deaf neighbors can probably hear it. The two sing along at the top of their lungs, partying like it's a school dance.

They even put on Amie's LED lights, even though they had to rummage through a bunch of boxes for the remote. Suddenly a familiar song comes on.

"Five, six, seven, eight.

Dance with me in my backyard, boy,

Looking super fine in your corduroys."

Amie sets down her coke and reaches for Reese's hands. "Now we're going to dance."

"We are?" He asks, but she's already whirling him around pretending she knows how to waltz. "I guess we are."

"Roll the windows down, let the bass drop low,

And everybody's talking but I don't want to know."

For half the song they try to dance in Amie's unorthodox way, spinning aimlessly in circles, but Reese puts an end to it. "Wait, let me show you how, because—."

"—because I'm terrible." She frowns playfully.

"Yes, actually." He guides her hands to his shoulders (and his to her waist, quite awkwardly) and she laughs, trying to adjust herself to reach his tall figure better. "You are so, so bad at dancing."

"Says the one who did the Chika dance for TikTok clout."

"Touché," Reese chuckles, spinning her a bit as the chorus comes on.

"And at the top of our lungs we sing,

da-da-da-da-da-da, everything is perfect,

da-da-da-da-da-da, all our words were worth it,

da-da-da-da-da-da dancing around like a clown at the circus,

Backyard boy, you make me nervous,"

The rest of the song fades out and a song by Pentatonix plays as they laugh off the awkwardness. Reese removes his hands from her sides and kind of vibes to the beat of the new music. "That was interesting."

Amie blinks awake suddenly, as if her body has realized that she's slept way too long. Judging by the filtered orange light coming through the windows, it's probably around an hour after sunset. Maybe eight pm? She feels a large hand tangled in her long hair, unmoving.

After they had danced, played minecraft, and eaten the rest of the ice cream, he had insisted on fixing her hair with the flowers again, and she had clearly fallen asleep in his lap. He seems to be asleep too.

She shifts gingerly, tipping her head to see if Reese is still awake. His eyes open sleepily, and his mouth curls up into a small smile. "How long did we sleep?" Amie asks quietly, glancing around to see if her mom is home yet.

"It's probably"—he checks his phone with his free hand— "eight, so quite a while. I'm going back to sleep soon, I think, and you should too." He starts to unwind his hand from Amie's hair.

So he's staying over?

"We should get some sleep. Let me see about the state of my room first, though." She sits up, trying not to show him how sour her expression has become.

Reese's phone rings and he picks it up, putting it on speakerphone. "Tubbo, it's five am for you. Sleep." He rolls his eyes at the boy's antics.

"You're with a girl. Explain."

Reese speaks up again, ignoring Tubbo. "Amie, do you think Tubbo will care if I call him back later, because I'm busy—" he clears his throat, "—and I'm staying the night."

He and Amie look at each other, sharing a wordless conversation. She arches an eyebrow comically.

You think he'll care?

Probably not. But I just want to piss him off for saying that.

The corners of Amie's eyes crinkle with a silent laugh. Really? Cause I was gonna ask you to stay anyways.

It's fine, Amie. I can go home.

No. I want you to stay.

Tubbo interrupts the pair sarcastically, sensing what's going on. "You can speak out loud, or at least unmute. And yes, Reese, you can fill me in later. I don't care."

"Thanks Tubbo, but I don't want to fill you in at all. We're gonna get some food and then sleep, so goodnight, or morning for you I guess," Reese says, shaking his head.

Amie looks over at her friend (a/n ooooof). "Reese, you know he's pissed enough at you for not telling him. It seems like how older brothers function, and he's got it spot-on."

Reese laughs, nodding. "Night Tubbo." He doesn't do anything, so Reese continues, "that means leave the call,"

"Hey, no, I'm staying on, and so are the clothes."

"That's a given, idiot," Reese frowns at the phone, and Amie laughs.

"I explicitly said it. Please listen."

Amie rolls her eyes in exasperation. "Key word: explicitly. Good. Fucking. Night."

She ends the call and Reese bursts out laughing, offering a high five. "Nice."
