"I can't believe you got detention for three weeks, just for some cheese," Tory shook her head as the girls headed to the parking lot.
"I actually had three weeks, Johnny's attitude got rid of the other two," Wren stated with a laugh.
After her little nacho session at lunch, the principal had called Johnny in, being that he was listed as her legal guardian on her paperwork and Wren really thought Johnny was going to lay into her for getting in trouble, but when the principal made the mistake of asking Wren why she had dumped her lunch on Ava, Wren turned the tears up to one hundred and informed the principal, in front of Johnny, how Ava had been making fun of her boyfriend's cleft lip and just how awful of a bully Ava was to 'poor poor Eli'.
Johnny was swift to remind the principal of the no bullying policy and Ava ended up in the office just as fast as Wren had, and had ended up with a week of detention for herself.
"I don't know what the icing on the cake was, me crying or Hawk's face when they asked him to come into the office so Ava could apologize in person," Wren laughed as she fished her car keys from her bookbag, furrowing her brow when she couldn't find them, but then remembering she had given them to Hawk.
"The two of you are partners in crime, honestly meant for each other," Tory insisted as they walked up to the cars, Miguel and Hawk already waiting.
"Well hello Mrs. Criminal mastermind," Hawk teased, kissing Wren. She giggled, poking his chest, "hello to you to Mr. Criminal mastermind," she greeted back.
Tory scoffed and Miguel shook his head, "Johnny was less than appreciative of our stunt, but Hawks immediate look of concern when he came into the office and saw I was crying was actually perfection," Wren insisted. Hawk frowned, "I was concerned, you looked like a hot mess, and then when the principal let us go and you just wiped your face off like that no big deal, I thought I hallucinated the whole thing!"
Wren shook her head, patting his face lightly, "Whatever you say, Bambi," she teased and he smirked, kissing her.
"Like the deer?" Miguel asked. "I don't get it..."
Tory laughed, "I Do. You ever see Hawk when he pretends he's the innocent, he gets those big wide eyed doe ears, like he could never do wrong."
Miguel rolled his eyes, getting in to Tory's car. "Honestly, you two were made for each other," he agrees, looking at Wren and Hawk.
"I certainly fit in you well," Hawk whispered in Wren's ear and her eyes got wide, blush creeping across her cheeks, "dirty boy," she scolded with a grin, throwing her stuff in her car.
"Common, let's go, i'm sure Johnny's still going to have me do like 100 burpees."
—-
It had only been fifty burpees, with fifty deducted off for defending her team mate, but nevertheless Wren felt like her lungs were on fire when she was finally done, sitting down on the mat next to Aisha and guzzling water while Johnny talked about the tournament.
"So, as you know, we can enter as many students as we want to the All-Valley, but I have decided to narrow it down to seven," Johnny decided.
"That's an odd number, Sensei," Hawk stated and Johnny gave him a look.
"Seven is my lucky number, so seven of you it will be. The seven I will be choosing will have a few extra lessons scheduled in to make sure that Cobra Kai takes home the tournament trophy once more."
There was a few cheers and a chorus of 'yeahs!' from the dojo.
"In my pocket, I have a paper with those seven people on it. The first person who can get this paper from me, can choose to take somebody's spot if they're not on the list. If somebody who is on the list already achieves in grabbing the paper, they can choose to replace somebody on the list. You hit the mat, you're out, and it'll be up to your fellow team mates to secure the list."
Johnny pulled the folded up piece of computer paper out of his pocket and all of the students immediately sprang up.
Could he take twenty students at once? Probably not, but it would be fun to watch them try.
Hawk, undoubtedly was the first one to reach sensei, and the first one to end up flipped onto the mat. Miguel followed shortly behind him, but stayed on his feet as Tory joined the fray.
Wren watched her friends slowly join up with the rest of the dojo and she quietly made her way around the scene, slipping into the office to Johnny's computer, quickly printing out another list.
"I've got it," she announced, making everybody pause in their tracks.
"No, I have it right here," Johnny still had the paper gripped in his hands and Wren used the opportunity of confusion to pluck it quickly.
"Now I have two copies," she stated cheekily.
"And that, is some outside of the box thinking," Johnny announced and the rest of the dojo applauded.
Wren opened up the folded copy and scanned the list of names.
1. Diaz
2. Hawk
3. Nicole
4. Robinson
5. Mills
6. Rickenberger
7. Big Red
She wasn't surprised by the list, it was most of the original students, the strongest students, and her, but she was a strong student, she had proved that her first day of class. The rest of her class looked at her anxiously, waiting to see if she would call the names out loud.
"I'm not changing anybody," she stated and a few people relaxed their shoulders, but possibly in defeat.
"I'll take both of those, and we can finish up class. After, I will post the list on the bulletin by the door," Johnny insisted and Wren handed him the two sheets of paper.
He folded them up, putting them in his pocket.
"Alright! Get into your rows!"
